Can I use my fibre router with another provider?

Hi,

I've been with Now Broadband for some time now. I'm at the end of my contract and I rang customer services who were unable to give me a competitive price.

I understand that NOW and Sky routers support 'DHCP option 61 (MER)'. The question is, would my Now Broadband fibre router work with another provider as a standalone modem/router?

The reason why I ask is that some of the free routers available are terrible and I'm quite happy with the range and performance of the Now router.

Thank you.

Hi @Anonymous User

I can see you have already asked the question over on the Sky Community Forum.

Can't really add anything to the post reply from over on Sky, where i tend to use the Router supplied with the ISP i moved too and in my home setup the standard ISP supplied Router does the things that i want (though i have only ever used BT & NowTV and both services and Routers worked perfectly fine in my home environment ).
