Broadband seems rubbish

I've had this service since 22/8 and I'm finding if the broadband is connected to one device, nothing else works.  Is this standard? Or do I find another provider? I was with BT no problems but with cost of living £53 is abit extreme for broadband and 700mins for phone calls...I dont watch much TV and its all through the iplayer or whatever but then when you want to use mobile/ipad/laptop they don't seem to want to work???

I find the broadband to be fine, and with no issues at all.

The supplied router however is another story, when I tried using the now router I had a few issues and not just poor WiFi.

So I use my own router and the connection is rock solid, the WiFi reaches down the garden, next door and a little way down the road.

Search this forum for own router.

Do you still have the BT router? If so what model is it?

Hi...

Oh OK, I had BT hub but they wanted me to return them. I have a belkin one
I think but that will be years old. So maybe worth me buying another router
then. Wasn't sure if I could as some suppliers I would of thought by now
would stop us buying a better router to keep ploughing money into the
supplier.

Thank you for advice as I didn't think about changing the router...

When you say one device, do you literally mean one device, or are you talking about not being able to watch Now on more than one device at once, which is a slightly different thing?

Now brought in this restriction a while back, though if you subscribe to the additional £5/month Boost service, you can:-

watch on up to three devices at once;

advert (but not promo) free on On Demand programmes;

Full HD 1080p instead of HD Ready 720p;

and 5.1 surround, if your equipment will support it, instead of just stereo.

Set a Payment PIN on your account so that no-one but you can buy memberships on it.
Check your bank accounts monthly for any other unexpected payments to Now.
That way you can at least nip them in the bud, while you and Now figure out whose fault they are.

Hi.

No not watching NOW TV just wanted a cheaper broadband and call plan, when
I do watch TV is all via the hub on iplayer itv hub or whatever its called
but its only when TV off when the broadband then let's me use mobile/laptop
better?
When TV on my daughters struggle with decent connection and we end up using
mobile data instead on being latched onto broadband.

Anyway the person suggested different router which I might do depending on
how often we want to use phones etc while TV just running in the background
(when no one watching it 🤦‍♀️🤣)...

The Now router, whilst not the best, should not have problems running a few devices together.

If you do get your own router, make sure it has Sky_MER as a connection option as that will make it much easier to set up. The latest TP-Link and Asus modem-routers do.

Aww thank you so much for info, even though its all in a different language
to me when people go all technical. I've screenshot your message so when I
go out hopefully the salesperson will know what all that meant 🤣

Thank you again 🙂

I recently joined now TV for the same reason. Now I've got the exact same issue. I've been in touch with NOW via their chat channel. The person at the other end of the channel was quite happy for me to cancel my subscription and leave NOW rather than provide a workable solution. I had the same number of devices with BT and didn't have any issue whatsoever. It is the same physical line so why would the broadband be different if I am using NOW? I've had to send the BT Router back for recycling. Telling people to reduce the number of devices that used to be connected and functioned perfectly well is the wrong solution. I've opted for BOOST and that has not solved the problem. Looks like I am going to have to go back to BT.

Oh no what a faff. Maybe I will call them after work tomorrow then and see
if I can opt out as I haven't yet brought another router, its just trying
to find another provider at a reasonable price with all what's going on
with cost of living and all that jazz...
Sorry you had the same issue though and that you can find another supplier
soon.

Boost has nothing to do with the broadband, it's for the Now streaming service.

The broadband is basically no different to BT. However the router is another matter.
