I called - was promised it would be resolved within 72 hours without being given any information as to what the issue is. Only that they've been aware of it since September 1st!. Still nothing, no resolution and no contact to keep me informed of issues or updated.

It is an openreach issue and I am entitled to compensation. Called again and spoke with a much more genuine and helpful lady. Amazing the difference it makes. Went from being annoyed to happy with the service in 1 phone call

I imagine the issue lies somewhere within the Openreach network, it is shame that the support team were unable to be more informative. Your only consolation will be that you should be entitled to automatic compensation as outlined here.
