Blocking HTTPS sites on router

I am trying to put a block on roblox to a schedule.

The router - NOW TV Hub Two, appears to allow this, but it isn't working.  On investigation it blocks access to http://www.roblox.com BUT is allowing https://www.roblox.com

The latter is what is ACTUALLY needed.  When I look at broadband buddy that doesn't appear to let me set a schedule.  I need the schedule to ensure my daughter is not playing roblox during her "school day". I have caught her breaking this rule.  I can't block internet access as that is needed for her lessons.

Please help!!!

Hi @Anonymous User

I am not sure if anything in this NowTV help article can assist or not ?

Perhaps the grown up browsing feature in the FAQ helps or not ?

Because i have no young kids at home i have never looked into parental time schedules on the NowTV Hub Router, which from my limited understanding is not possible with the NowTV Hub (might be wrong).

Maybe give the NowTV Broadband Team a call tomorrow (use the telephone number) in this link page below to see if they can offer you a solution.

I looked at the broadband buddy and it was saying your can’t set schedules with 18 enabled.  We had to do that so that hubby’s games from Steam et al worked OK, as it was blocking something.  Was absolutely fine with this until now and teenagers are doing online schooling

Hi @Anonymous User

Unless somebody else on the Community Forum who has more knowledge with regards to Parental time schedule blocking on either directly via the NowTV Hub Router webpage settings or under the Broadband Buddy online account settings.

Then the NowTV Broadband Team would be your best bet (either give them a phone call tomorrow or drop them a message) see previous link that i posted for the two means of communication.

Hi @Anonymous User

Might be a good idea to undo the accepted solution you have marked, until either the NowTV Broadband Team have provided a workable answer or another forum member comes up with a suggestion that helps with your predicament.

Don't know if there is a third party App that can be applied to your daughter's internet device that can do this function you want ?

Or you may have to look at a third party Router that works on Sky / NowTV Broadband service (which i don't think is straight forward) with this feature or switch to another Internet Provider.

@Anonymous User I have a very limited understanding of routers/networking and computers in general but after a quick Google I've read that most, if not all, routers won't block https. There are a few 3rd party routers that will but I got truly lost reading through some of the threads on how that's done. Keep in mind that NowTV/Sky also make it extremely difficult for you to set up and use a 3rd party router.

There are a number of articles available highlighting external services that will block https but from what I've read, you can't schedule a time. The sites are either blocked or open. Below is a link to the first article I came across

Thanks.  Yes I had seen the Open DNS route, so was concerned whether doing so would have any impact on our ability to access both out employers VPN.

may have to bite the bullet and try at the weekend
