I am moving to a new flat and my flatmate signed up for NOW broadband to be delivered and activated on 26th August but she has been emailed to say that this will not happen until 8th September, around 2 weeks after we move in. But we shouldn't have to be without WiFi for 2 weeks, as we deliberately signed up with enough time to have activation coincide with moving house.

This is the problem when NOW have to rely on OpenReach to get everything sorted out. If I were you, call the broadband team to see what if anything can be done.
