Update Now TV app for apple TV

Will the Now TV app for Apple TV ever get an update?

The current version is complete rubbish and makes me regret ever getting a Now TV pass.

Unless there is an update my Now TV experience will be very short indeed.

I use that feature on my YouView box and there is no reason the Apple TV
box cannot have it either. Regarding no subtitles on the BBC iPlayer the
BBC have said and I quote

" there are technical challenges associated with delivering subtitles to
Apple TV which require a significantly different solution to that which we
use on all of the platforms"

Can't see that happening any time soon which is a big disappointment to me.

The BBC have said there are technical challenges associated with
delivering subtitles to Apple TV which will require a significantly
different solution to that which we use and all of the platforms but we
don't currently have timelines associated with this support.

Technically they would be breaching The disability discrimination act by not offering it.

Thanks, that good to know

Except they *do* offer it on every (other) platform *except* tvOS - so that’s a “get out of jail card” right there I would say

So having a disability means restricted purchase options because you have to buy multiple devices in order to watch something in a format suitable for your disability when offer app and service providers already offer it?

@Anonymous User You’d need to ask the BBC and/or Apple for their answer to that

Eh?!

It isnt boost format.

If it was, then in the settings menu you'd see your active boost pass.

And if its boost, then it would be 1080p AND 5.1 you wouldn't just have one or the other.

So with respect, why do you think that boost subscribers have 1080p in the beta app?  Just curious.

@Anonymous User I’m Completely the same as you, so happy I dont have to use the old app again and hopefully we won’t have to and this is the final stretch before the full release, I mean it’s taken A long time but hopefully when they release it the few bugs it has and the upgrades they’ve promised, boost Apple TV intergration etc will be added.

Worse still email yesterday said new build would fix crash on tvOS 14 and unspecified bug fixes. Today on test flight it says sane build due to expiring version.

Hmmm. This is getting silly.

There is no reason not to release, it’s not perfect but has no major issues.
