When is the AppleTV app Beta going to start, I got an email saying 2nd half of August & not heard anything since. Also will the App be delivered by Apple Test Flight?

Sky/Comcast are defo developing a new NowTV AppleTV App they realise that AppleTV has become a solid platform over the last year with everyone getting behind it now.

So my app works on my Apple TV 4K with the issues I mentioned, Apple TV 4 just crashes as someone previous mentioned.

This beta has been going on a long time compared to other beta cycles I tested eg My5 was like 3-4 weeks.

My passes run out soon, decided until they either have a proper working app or a solid beta I’m out

@Anonymous User Agreed. No idea what’s happening. Still no reply to my last email to the trials manager sent nearly 3 weeks ago. Starting to lose the will to carry on with it...

I know exactly what you mean, I haven’t had a reply either, such a shame it could dominate if they sorted it out

No not on the trial wish I was and asked to be repeatedly. Has the trial actually ended now then?? Do you think it’s nearing completion

@Anonymous User No idea if it’s ended, nor if it’s nearing completion. App was working well until about 3 weeks ago or so then suddenly things started behaving badly - “the wheels came off” - just a guess but suspect some sort of back end change has conflicted with the app. First time trials manager has failed to respond to my emails. And the issue reporting URL has gone dead. And the current version build has disappeared off TestFlight. Apart from that, it’s all going great! 😂 

(Well it was going great. Now starting to have doubts myself about whether or not this app is ever going to fly... 😟)

Same old crap: “I've checked the details and as of now we don't have any update on when the NOW TV app on apple TV is going to update however the relevant team is on working towards getting an updated app on Apple TV.”

Well in the end Now Tv won. Have put the Apple Tv up for sale and purchased a Roku Plus Stick. Have to say it £49 well spent. All apps are on there, including Apple Tv.

Another response: ”I have got a confirmation from them that they are working really hard to get the updated app on Apple TV. I understand that this is taking quite sometime now but we won't be able to do anything from our end.”

Could be today, could be 2020, could be it get’s scrapped altogether when Sky launches it’s app based service like it has in Europe.

@Anonymous User To be honest, “something that happened” during the beta made me strongly believe that the app is(/was?) derived from/based on Sky’s app offering in Germany...

If I recall correctly (which I often don’t!), around the same time as the Apple tv beta trial began, there was a beta trial for a NOW TV app to run on Sony Smart TVs running Android. Applied for that too but didn’t get in. Not seen or heard anything further about that, so maybe new app development for other platforms has generally all gone down the tubes for whatever reason(s)?

It launched recently in Ireland but is only available to Apple TV 4th Gen. Prior to that we couldn't watch Now TV on ATV at all so perhaps Ireland is on a new platform to the UK?
