When is the AppleTV app Beta going to start, I got an email saying 2nd half of August & not heard anything since. Also will the App be delivered by Apple Test Flight?

I was thinking about this today, if it was going to be apart of the new Apple TV app would the iOS version already be apart of it already as they update that one often?? Just a thought but I could be wrong

They have "scripted" answer.

If you read that article it says their upcoming app will be based on the UK's NowTV app. I think they'll keep NowTV here and launch the newer app elsewhere, initially at least. I'm quietly confident a new version of the NowTV app will soon make its way onto Apple TV.

I'm now waiting to see if the new NowTV app is released before Virgin Media can get fibre to our street. About two years ago I thought it was a sure-thing that the app would be refreshed first, but I've since seen Virgin doing a couple of surveys, so it could go either way now.

What's strange is that the iOS app is quite good (relatively speaking) so I'm not sure why they didn't just do a port of that as an interim. Very disappointing.

It appears the trial app for TVOS has now fallen over without a fall reset

ive checked TestFlight and all builds have now been removed?

ive emailed the trails manager-assume all beta testers are having  the same issue?

to be clear mods I’m not realising any info just trying to solve a problem for beta users

Currently speaking to them and all I’m getting is:

”Regarding the app on the Apple TV, our team is constantly working on it. Hope to see an updated app soon.

Expect the developer is working on a new test build and it no longer makes sense to keep the old test build running is all. They are clearly putting the time into the development. Yes i would like it out as the current App has a awful UI but would prefer it gets properly done as well.

Am also getting desperate for a new app (or even access to the Beta), as this current app on the Apple TV is getting very clunky - and I'm not getting another streaming device just for this. Rather frustrating at how long it's taking, but what's perhaps worse is how opaque the process is as to what's happening.

On top of this, the mandatory parental PIN on live Cinema channels is painful (first world problems, I know!).

I was on the Beta, but binned it off (before they pulled it). 

Reasons:

It's expired twice over the last 12 months because they forgot about it, so didn't bother sticking a new BETA up. So that counted as 4 device swaps (I have 2 Apple Tvs) in a month when I reverted to the non-Beta App, then the Beta App when they did finally remember.

The time before last, when they stuck the Beta back up after it elapsed, under 'Version' it said: "same as previos'. Note the shoddy spelling mistake. Doesn't inspire much confidence. I mean - how does that even happen? I just had to prevent spell checker from auto-correcting 'previos'.

It hasn't changed, at all, since the very first 'release'.

And now, with no warning, has been pulled in its entirety. It's unlikely it's being worked on at all. The standard line of 'we're working on the Apple TV app constantly' is exactly that - a standard line. It's meaningless spiel.

Look - NowTV is still a pretty good service. I'll pay circa £20 a month for Sports, even in 720p that's reasonable value. And the occasional month here and there for Ents and Movies. But the service overall is far short of what it could be.

So - sod the Beta. Just sort it out and let me know when its worth looking at and taking it seriously.
