Aww man, how disappointing. I won’t be renewing my Now TV sports pass when
this one expires and I have now cancelled movies. I get that Sky is their
premium product but there’s no excuse for 720p and rubbish frame rates
these days...

Hello again @Karl-F and @Anonymous User any news on this?

How long is this going to be in Beta, are there any updates of any kind? I just got an Apple TV today & it's fantastic but Now TV (& All 4) are terrible. I won't be using either of them until they work properly like Amazon/Netflix/iPlayer/ITV Hub/My 5 do.

Very Smart decision. You will not regert it. Shame is that for sure they will be atleast effected. They cant steal our money anymore for 720p.

I just loving new BT sports apple tv app. Man its increadable in 1080P at 50 Fps. Its looks so cripy. At speed Now Tv is  going. They will take further 10 years to get 1080 for now tv streaming then hopefully they will stop calling their 720p as HD.  They will never understand average screen size in uk has beeen increased damn 720p doesnt go well on it. SKy q is hassle wires weather high price etc and Now tv is way to go but not with 720 for God fake.  Sky q box cant compite with smart box like apple tv. It was so funny they adverstise netflix is on sky q hahahaha. Its just app every day tons apps coming apple tv. Never mind they will never uderstand. God bless their heads, hope they will think out of box. Happy customers will bring more money in long run. they dont get this.

I don't blame you at all, and many of us agree with you.

I paid for a one-year subscription when I took the (Black Friday deal), but even though I got a good deal for (12 month Sky Cinema & Entertainment Pass - Just £99), I'm still not happy with the quality of the Films.

I hope Sky/Now TV Technical team look at our comments seriously and at least update us since we are their paid clients.

Upon renewal, I shall not renew if the situation is still the same and I may follow your steps.

I have a theory that there will be no new app. And the nowtv channels will be served by apples just announced Apple TV plus service

No, the new app very much exists. I might not be able to talk about it, but I can at least confirm it’s existance.

Oh Lordy, the constant will they / won’t they with this update is driving me wild. Still, glad to hear it exists in some form.

Well, All4 have made their move - within a few months we have had an app, an app redesign and now full integration with AppleTV “up next” functionality.

NowTV are out here on their own at the moment then... The NowTV service will be killer the moment they bring this over!

Indeed, excellent move by Channel 4 as their ALL4 streaming service is fully integrated with Apple TV.

Also, ALL4 will also appear as part of recommendations in the Apple TV "TV Application"

Come on Now TV, at least tell us what is going on, please?

Well they're not quite on their own. Netflix don't support the TV app and won't be part of the upcoming channels offering.

Then again, they're Netflix, so they can do whatever they like. When you utterly dominate streaming there isn't really any need to get into bed with, to be frank, the runners up.

With Now TV there is a huge incentive to sign up however. As much as I wish Netflix would play along I still use the TV app a lot and it genuinely increases what I watch on services which support it.

Yes, I misspoke there.  It’s funny how Netflix is so it’s own thing that I had written it off as ever coming over to the main TV app.

At this point I would be happy for NowTv to run on its own a la Netflix, just as long as it runs as well and I don’t have to cross-reference against my phone to find my place in a series.

Surely this is exiting beta soon. Do we have an update?

Have just returned to NowTV after a long absence and was gutted to see that the same, awful Apple TV app from years ago is still being used. Any word as to when the new one might see the light of day?

Thanks!

They said they had no plans to update the app, it’s still on version 1.0 from 4 years ago.

It's hard to believe any technology company would leave an app not updated for over 4 years on a platform like Apple TV ,  maybe Sky/Now just dont have the expertise in this area in house - would be a good idea to collaborate with the likes of BBC or BT who clearly have shown the way video streaming should be done in 2019, and great apps to come with it in the case of BBC Iplayer on Apple TV and other platforms.

Watching NOW TV almost makes you feel like online video streaming is just a compromise and second-class choice as compared to satellite TV - they are so far behind BT and BBC IPlayer quality of video streaming for sports with the constant stuttering.

I completely agree

The only think I ca. Think of is they are getting ready to launch Sky X in the UK so this is a dead platform with no further real development until the transition to Sky X
