5.1 Dolby digital now on Apple TV?

This last week or so I have noticed that my amp reads the output from my Apple TV 4K as being in 5.1 Dolby digital. My tv shows this too. 

I only have sky sports plus boost so can’t vouch for other packages 

there is a problem however.

If I switch from a 5.1 source (such as ‘the hundred’) to a non-5.1 source (such as the lions highlights) the whole audio messes up. The app doesn’t switch back to stereo and keeps all full 6 channels open. Can hardly hear the commentary. 

I have to exit the app, close it and reenter to hear the show properly. 

I suspect now accidentally added 5.1 to the Apple TV streams because to my knowledge Apple TV doesn’t have 5.1.

anyone else have this problem?

@Anonymous User  yes I noticed the same recently and mentioned it on the other thread that @gavs82008  referred to (but nobody seemed to believe it)
