Nowtv Router gets very hot

My nowtv router seems to get a lot hotter than my previous routers. The power consumption is rated at 7watts so that’s about 5kwh every month. Seems very high for today’s technology.
It gets so hot it can damage veneers on furniture let alone the cost in electricity consumption.
Does anyone have any comments?

You're right; I'm surprised how hot the NowTV Hub 2 gets and you have to be careful what you place it on or take precautions to protect the furniture.

As for the electricity cost, this article looked into this, although not the latest Hub 2 (see page 2).

Absolutely agree. Who designed a product so badly with ventilation underneath on the base which restricts air flow, gets too hot and stops working properly
