@crashing

What browser are you starting from?

As an experiment, try a different browser, and report back.

Set a Payment PIN on your account so that no-one but you can buy memberships on it. Check your bank accounts monthly for any other unexpected payments to Now. That way you can at least nip them in the bud, while you and Now figure out whose fault they are.

I have had exactly same problem last few months .. i think it started with a windows update. Unfortunately NOW TV support are totally useless, just gave random suggestions unrelated to problem and ive given up hope of it working again now.

Try a different browser, and report back. Edge is the Windows default, but you should be able to try with Google Chrome and/or Firefox, see if that makes any difference.

There are also binary crash logs produced,  which probably hold the key, but support team have no interest in this, just in fobbing me off to waste time until i gave up

I take your point, but the browser must be calling NowTVPlayer.exe with an info string, or it wouldn’t know what to start playing.

I was thinking that trying another browser would lessen or eliminate the possibility that the string being passed is corrupted?

Yeah I tried Edge again when you suggested it but exactly the same as on Chrome.

OK, I guess that tells us that the Now player installation is screwed up then.

What I would do now is:-

Uninstall the Now Player.

Have a poke in and around the file location and folder structure where it lived, with Windows Explorer, and delete any left-over traces of it comoletely.

Use CCleaner or a similar program to check the Registry, and choose to delete any orphaned entries that relate to the Now Player.

Restart Windows.

Repeat the poke around/delete and registry check/delete. If anything is found, repeat the restart.

When things are all clear after a restart, install the Now Player again, and see if it works this time.

Set a Payment PIN on your account so that no-one but you can buy memberships on it. Check your bank accounts monthly for any other unexpected payments to Now. That way you can at least nip them in the bud, while you and Now figure out whose fault they are.

I don't think the installation is screwed up, i think it's installed fine, it's just the program itself is screwed. It was working fine for 9 months, then suddenly stopped, i think after a Windows Update, so obviously something conflicted. Ultimately it is just poorly coded as it shouldn't crash without telling the user why. Now TV Support told me it would work again if I installed latest Windows updates, which I did and of course nothing changed. They then told me my Now Player version is out of date, which it isn't as the downloadable version on the website has not changed in several months (ive downloaded it about 50 times). Ive tried the 'deleting everything related to Now Player and reinstalling' multiple times but to no avail.
