Windows NowTV Player Crashes on startup - Faulting module name: ucrtbase.dll

I have reinstalled and rebooted. Same thing happens - app loads, spinner for a few seconds and then app closes. Windows application logs has the following error every time. Worked fine yesterday:

ucrtbase.dll is a MS runtime file.

I can only suggest you run sfc /scannow (note the space between sfc and /) from the admin command prompt and hope this corrects a possible corrupt file.

Are you running Bitdefender antivirus, or something like it? Bitdefender doesn’t like that .dll, or the way that Now uses it, and you need to make an exception for it in the AV so it doesn’t keep faulting during real-time scanning.

Set a Payment PIN on your account so that no-one but you can buy memberships on it. Check your bank accounts monthly for any other unexpected payments to Now. That way you can at least nip them in the bud, while you and Now figure out whose fault they are.
