Terrible Player/Terrible UI

I am literally getting super sick of paying for this service. It's shockingly bad.  When you look at playforms like Netflix they just get it right. Super easy to navigate to content. Sadly that cannot be said for the now tv platform. Eveytime i come to the site i am presented with the generic homepage.  Nowhere on that site can i easily get to the content. Then i'm taken to login - each and every single time i come here, even though i've checked remember me. Whilst it does remember me, why can't it just know it's me again. I mean you're using cookies. I then once logged in still cannot easily get to view the content i want. All you want to do is upsell and tell me what nowtv is, what packages you have bla bla bla. But there are no options to view anything. Its so bad. I can only see "My TV" the green bar, once i've clicked on any of the options under my "my now tv" on the "my account" blue bar at the top. Your site should registere that once i've logged in it knows what package i have and will probably want to jump to the content.  

 

Here comes the other annoying thing. When i want to view content on my mac, say i've just done a software update, of silverlight, or my MacOS. Pretty much every single time i can no longer use the site.  Silverlight has to be by far the worst media player software.  I as of last week cannot view any content on my mac no matter what i do. All of these things combined are relaly making me question why on earth i pay you the subscription fee for a mediocre online service, which needs some serious UI attention. It's lacking when you stand it next to services as netflix and bbciPlayer. It's not intuitive, or userfriendly in any way.

 

Having said all of this, your saving grace for me is the PS4 app which is slick and very streamlined.

 

Very frustrated customer.

Have to agree with you I'm not a fan of the new homepage myself, resource heavy and cluttered. 

 

However, if it helps you now have to click where it says TV Passes at the top of the homescreen to get to the watch section of the website, where you can then login and watch in the browser.

 

Alternately, you might want to bookmark the direct link to movies http://watch.nowtv.com/movies

the direct link to entertainment is http://watch.nowtv.com/entertainment

and for sports http://watch.nowtv.com/sports

 

As for watching in the browser, you may need to allow Silverlight again if you've recently updated. 

 

In Safari try the following

 1. Go to the NOW TV website and try to play a film or TV programme (depending on your pass).


 

2. While the programme is trying to load, go to Safari>Preferences> Security> Plugin Settings


3. Make sure Silverlight is ticked on the left of the pane, and make sure www.nowtv.com OR watch.nowtv.com is listed on the right of the pane, and set it to Always Allow


 4. Click Done, restart Safari and see if that helps.

This kinda worked, but i'm unable to view any content in fullscreen. It just goes black.

Any ideas on why fullscreen is totally black? But has audio?

I'm guess it's now working in a normal browser window but not full screen? If so I've not come across that before. You could try the fix on the following help page, but that's for blocky PQ so I doubt it will help

Hi,

 

I cannot get full screen mode to work when playing content through the latest version of the NowTV player on a mac. Full screen mode zooms into a tiny portion of the image making the film unwatchable. If I stretch the viewer to more than 2/3 of the total screen size the same problem occurs. 

 

Please let me know if there is a solution to this problem. It is incredibly frustrating.
