Connecting to Microsoft Remote Desktop seized to work

Hi all,

on Wednesday evening around 18:00, the ability to connect to a remote computer at work using Microsoft Remote Desktop stopped to work. We have used this service successfully before with NowTV as ISP many times. When speaking to the IT guys at work, they stated that other work colleagues that use NowTV as internet provider had the same or similar issues, that the problem was not on their side, and that only people with NowTV, Sky, and BT as ISPs faced this issue.

Given the corona virus hubbub, the massive move to working from home, and the subsequent capacity problems that I suspect many ISPs face, I suspect that NowTV and he other mentioned "suspects" changed something in their server-side setup to either throttle bandwidth per customer or switch off some ports altogether in order to prioritise other types of traffic - thereby killing Remote Desktop.
Has anyone faced the same issue (Remote Desktop working perfectly to not working at all) and was able to fix it somehow?

Many thanks
