As the other thread was deleted with all the people complaining that the service doesn't work I thought I would start a new one!!

Hi @Anonymous User,

As you can now see, the other thread was not deleted, it was merged together with other topics and posts about the same issue....

Please Note: NOW TV have posted the following 'Service Status Announcement': Issue watching NOW TV 7/8/2017

This is just ridiculous - hours after the problem manifested and I still can't watch GoT. This is why people (not me I hasten to add) download the program illegally. It's nothing to do with money, it's just easier, quicker and more reliable!

I've never had the amount of issues I've faced with NOWTV (which i only use because it's the solo method to watch GoT legally.. well until they took the new Twin Peaks behind the Murdoch paywall too) with any of the many other streaming sites i use online. So many stresses during the couple of months i have to use it every year.

It makes me wonder if the online streaming service is bad on purpose, well there's at least a least a perverse inventive for the service to be half arsed because they think at worst people will give up and buy their box or Sky out of frustration hence more £. As if other non-legal methods to watch don't exist.

It really is a bad business model when a customer such as myself resents having to use your product. I won't go illegal but it's hardly suprising so many do.

I can confirm that the "online streaming service" works great via the 'in-built' app on my LG television. Same on my little NOW TV 'black' box Smiley Happy

Exactly my point. The service being uniquely rubbish on laptops (never have these problems with netflix, amazon or many other speicialised streaming services I use) being countered with "give them more of your money and buy the NOWTV box!"

I also have a Samsung smart tv but NOWTV app only availble for post 2015 made TVs.

Hi @Anonymous User,

Given you already have a TV you should consider one of the following 'black' box 'bundle' deals from Currys/PC World: -

NOW TV 'black' box with 2 month 'Movies' pass @ £14.99

NOW TV 'black' box with 3 month 'Entertainment' pass @ £14.99

Are you trolling me? Please accept my apologies if you're sincerely trying to be helpful but missing my point.

PROBLEM- NOWTV can't consistantly and stress free deliver the service they promise and that I'm paying for ie, access to their service via my laptop.

SOLUTION - give them another 15 quid.

Can you not see the perverse incentive there in regards delivering a good, reliable service on PCs of the kind netflix, amazon and countless other sites do?

And yes, i have considered buying the box out of frustration numerous times.

I'm providing you (and maybe others) with options @Anonymous User.

Look at it this way.... For 15 quid you can get either 3 months 'Entertainment' (which would normally cost £7.99 per month = £23.97) or 2 months 'Cinema' (which would normally cost £9.99 per month = £19.98).

So effectively the black box costs you nothing and you still get a discount on the service.

Well... thank you? It's not that the box itself is bad value for money and if it were presented as the only availble opition to watch the service, i'd be ok with it. My problem is that they promise to deliver the same user friendly online/PC service that their competitors do and do not deliver on it.

I am more on here to vent my disatisifaction than looking for a solution at this point- I had tried all night at that ends and I'm aware of my opitions at this point. But no less frustrated and disappointed.

As above, for me at least it's nothing to do with money. £8, £24 or whatever - within reason I couldn't give a sh*t.

I have a busy and fulfilling life, GoT is one of very few TV programmes I watch. I don't want to spend an hour going to Currys or whatever to buy a stupid black box. Neither do I want to watch any of the other cr*p on Sky. I just want to watch GoT once a week and not spend more than 2 minutes accessing it. The process for signing up to, logging in to and using NowTV is absurdly convoluted as well as the service itself being highly unreliable.

Shame on Sky and NowTV for undermining artistic copyright and driving people to illegal downloading through frustration and necessity.
