AMAZON free month offer - beware of being charged !

For months there's been a "free month" of Prime offer showing up on the Amazon app of my NowTV Smart Box. Recently I decided to take it up, so clicked it. Everything seemed ok but then I discoved Amazon had billed me. I took it up over their chat and they refused a refund saying I'd had a recent previous offer according to their systems - I have not.  They also said they cannot refund because I have used the Prime. I had to escalate the chat from adviser to specialist to manager before they backed down and agreed a refund. The point is it's a free offer that I took in good faith. It may be the same with a normal Roku - I don't know.

So this is just a heads up to beware if you take the free one month Amazon offer - you may get charged and you may encounter resistance to getting your money back.

This is no reflection on Sky or NowTV - Amazon were the problem.

This is true, I took up the 1 month free offer yesterday and the full £7.99 was billed to my bank card, con artists!

What membership was part of the free offer?

FYI that I do not work for NOW, just a NOW customer trying to help

It was a month of full Amazon Prime membership, which then shows up on your Amazon account if you log in via PC. On the Now Smart box app it showed up as "Watch free for a month" or words to that effect - it was at the top of the home page.
