You need to specifically ask BT to ‘let go’ of the account so it can return to Now.

I see I would have thought that BT would have sorted it out when I left within the 14 day's cooling off period.
It's actually quite shocking that they over ride now TV settings especially when there own BT TV is so poor even on the BT pro box.
Thanks for the helpful advice I'll phone them tomorrow about it as it's shocking. Now TV can't seem to do anything either yet it's there own product.
Again thank you for the reply.

As you seemed to have a sentimental attachment to your longtime Now account, I didn’t suggest that you simply started a new Now account and left the other one behind.
But I could have, and of course for those who have no such attachment, they can be back on Now with a new account in seconds.
i.e. don’t confuse Now’s product, the streaming service itself, with the Now account you need to use it.
I don’t get that BT TV is poor though? It’s exactly the same service that Now provide, with the important addition of the recordable versions on the BT Pro box, a godsend to anyone who needs to timeshift an F1 race or a footie match, rather than suffer the vicissitudes of when and where and how Sky will reshow them, or even only highlights from them.
The one poor thing is that you don’t get subtitles on the Now app on YouView boxes (which includes the Pro boxes).
Another poor thing perhaps is that you don’t get the Now special offers or retention discounts; but then BT offer a rather different value proposition, closely aligned to ‘Sky in all but name’, with ease of use, on the BT Pro box at least, several notches above standard Now,
And BT only override other Now accounts with your BT Now account on YouView boxes, not anywhere else. And a moment’s thought will tell you why that is, because without the BT Now account being set up on the box, none of what BT provide of Now would work on the box, without you manually putting the account back. That ease of use again.
But just as BT can't take your Now account off whoever you were paying for it before - they have to blow it to BT, BT can’t suck it in - so Now can’t suck it back from BT, BT have to pass it back. Though BT seem to assume you just want to let it die, and you have to ask them to pass it back, if you want to keep it, as here.

Hello Roy
I actually got it eventually as BT have admitted they have indeed shut the account down wrongly & there's absolutely no way anyone from there it department can recover it & nor could now either but having admitted to the error and obviously me saying about certain points of law regarding the data protection act they have agreed to reimburse me a very reasonable goodwill gesture which I've decided to accept from BT.
Now have been extremely good aswell and have honoured the officers in my old account so I'm very pleased with everything as it's certainly helped me over an extremely difficult personal time following the sudden loss of my mum 2 weeks ago as I only wanted to watch something to escape reality for bit and both companies have came up trumps this time.
I felt the BT pro box wasn't as good as my fire cube or the Freesat Recoder I have options of using but I really think now TV is an excellent product & every bit as good as the sky stream box obviously sister company of now.
I think it works out in many ways better than the stream as I wasn't keen on that but they are different products that suit different situations for different people.
I'd like to thank you Roy for the helpful advice regarding this issue.
Many thanks & all the best.
