Ads despite paying £10pm for a subscription is criminal

Genuine unabashed greed. Shameless lack of explanation and definitely not worth it given that:

1. The app is prone to crashing.

2. The bitrate tanks randomly.

3. Crap, nonsensical adverts trying to sell me things I do not and will never need.

4. I have to download a program to even stream it? And the reasons make zero sense! Just have it be in-browser for goodness sake.

Once I'm done with my binge I'm out, indefinitely. Sod this platform.

True that I’ve got ITVX premium for the original cost of ITV hub this year. That being said we make a lot of use of it and will probably be happy to pay for full price 😎

FYI that I do not work for NOW, just a NOW customer trying to help

While @gavs82008 is correct that other streaming services have adds, the add supported tiers are at a much lower price than the standard tier that Now operates in .

If you want to get rid of the adds on Now you have to pay for  a higher level than the standard rates other services charge for their standard non add supported layers.

If ou can get a deal with Now's TV servces and theres something you want to watch then its worth it, but in my opinion the Now TV subs are of poor value at standard rate compared to the other services add free layers , and add supported layers.

Couldn't agree more. Haven't paid full price for NOW in almost 5/6 years and something I would point blank refuse to do.

Discounted memberships with NOW is the only way I personally can justify keeping my subscription. That being said generally we do find something to watch on NOW at a few times a week, so it's not a total waste of a discounted rate.

@gavs82008 I can’t remember paying full price for Now TV and it is less worthwhile than ever with the competition and the removal of so many studios from Cinema (20th century Fox & Disney). £7/month is all I want to pay for cinema, entertainment and no ads.  And it is all I pay. Though I did pay £6/month rather than £4/month to watch Succession until yesterday.  Amazon Prime is the only subscription I pay full price for but it is more than TV and relatively cheap (£79/annum).

Amazon Prime has now gone up to £95 a year, so watch out on your next renewal. I tend to agree though because apart from the decent media content it also allows you to get all kinds of cheap bits and bobs delivered for free next day with no more than a click!  🙂

Prime video alone would be worth £95/annum but throw in free delivery, free music (albeit shuffled), free photo storage along with other benefits and it’s hard to beat.   Less than £8/month.

There's the rub, as always. "Standard" rates. Which most providers do not deviate from. Whereas NOW do. And then some!  I'm wiith @gavs82008 on this one.

@redchiz1 I have noticed other streaming services like Disney, Apple and Paramount all offering returning customers discounts and extended trial periods.  Lots of streaming options out there but apart from the cheap Now offers and Prime, I tend to ignore most as it works out cheaper to just buy the movies I want to watch off Chili (with free vouchers for Telegraph subscribers) or Amazon.

I don't watch Disney+ much, but my wife and boys love it. We haven't "paid" as such for a couple of years now, relying instead on Tesco Clubcard vouchers.

Apple TV is quite limited, but their core content is excellent. I have had a couple of offers from them and am currently on one now, but baulk at paying full price for how little I use it.

Totally agree with you about Amazon Prime.

As for NOW, my only compelling reason to be with them is Sky Sports during the football season when they generally offer some pretty decent deals considering it is by far the most costly subscription package out there. Any other offers that come along I will generally take, but happily move on when they expire.

As ever, you pays your money and makes your choice.  The idea of entitlement to low prices all round I find strange. At the end of the day it's a bit of telly and neither compulsory, nor a necessity.

Don’t pay £10/month.  Cancel and get entertainment for £4/month like I did today.  Also you can pay just £1/month for cinema as well with email offers and get a free month of boost.  Cancel boost and you normally get a £2/month offer.

So £7/month for cinema, entertainment and boost for me and no ads except the unnecessarily trailers for shows I have already seen.
