Now TV Passes

Hi everyone

Where are you getting your Entertainment passes from? I have tried Game to get an online code and Argos but both are only showing Sports passes!

I do not have a Currys near me really and I don't know if I trust Amazon, as I may get a duff pass, so any info would be gratefully received Smiley Happy

@Lindzi

Hi Linzi

I get my passes from and via Amazon and, yes, I have received the odd duff pass but I have never had any problems getting them replaced, usually within a couple of hours.

You see, the first thing I do, whether buying passes from Amazon, Argos or anywhere else, is that on receipt I immediately check with Now TV help desk to confirm the validity of my newly purchased passes. And if there is a problem I will then contact the supplier who will usually send me a replacement code by email.

The point is that I do not wait until the moment I am using the pass to discover whether it is OK or not, by then it could be too late to rectify.

Anyway, apart from that I also have a few more personal policies I invoke when dealing with passes.

1) I make a detailed note of each pass I have and intend to use in my diary and my computer's notepad.

2) Whenever I activate/use a pass I mark in my diary the date I use it, the date I must cancel by if I do not want to continue with the service, so that Now TV does not automatically take a subscription from my account, and most importantly the date when the pass expires.

3) And finally, again whenever I use a pass I always take and save a screen print of it so that if there is a problem, e.g. the pass vanishes from my account, I can email the screen print to Now TV proving that my valid pass did exist and was accepted by their computer.

All the above might seem a bit involved but it has served me in good stead and has headed off problems before they become too serious.

Hope this helps.

@ukbobboy

Thank you, do you favour any particular Amazon seller, or is it buy and hope for the best?

I do the same and I always take a screen print of applied passes and diary for the expiry, comes in handy if a pass ever disappears from your account Smiley Happy

HI @Lindzi

If you have a Paypal account you can buy nowtv gift cards directly from nowtv website shop.

Link here.

I believe the major supermarkets are now offering nowtv gift cards (haven't checked myself) but @Anonymous User mentioned in this thread linked below about a 20% discount on nowtv passes at Morrisons.

Hi @Lindzi

Also found this help article from the Help Centre about gift cards and a list of approved retail partners that sell these nowtv gift cards.

Thank you...Argos and Game are on the list but they are both only offering Sports passes at the moment. It's annoying especially as I work very near an Argos store and Game would email me the code so no effort involved Smiley Happy

Hi @schnapps

Thank you for the heads up. I don't have a paypal account but I will have a look in my local supermarket to see what's on offer.

I wonder if they are trying to phase out the passes for movies and entertainment? I have never had this issue before and always obtained passes really easily.

Hi @Lindzi

I used to buy the NowTV boxes with the bundled passes during the Bank Hoildays, Black Friday & January Sales where the passes bundled with the box had a 4 month cinema or 6 month entertainment pass which i was paying around £20 which was an attractive option for me.

I think NowTV got wise to this and started providing the box or stick with much shorter term pass bundles at a similar cost.

Gift cards are really now your only option, unless you get a retention deal when you cancel your passes.

I would never pay the full month subscription prices.

Also keep a lookout on Hotdeals UK website where sometimes members on there find some amazing deals with nowtv vouchers.

@schnapps

That is exactly what I used to do as well. I do have a cupboard full of brand new black boxes but they were such a good deal! I would never pay the full £7.99 a month as, although the content is good, I only need it for Sky Atlantic programmes as I have all the other channels through cable.

I have taken a punt and cancelled my pass and was offered a deal for the next 4 months but next time I will take @ukbobboy and your advice and try other outlets for passes.....hoping that Now TV aren't trying to phase them out in the meantime

Hi @Lindzi

Yeah, i actually counted the nowtv white & black boxes that i bought purley for the bundled voucher passes and i have 23  brand new boxes, where i can't be bothered to recycle them, give them away or sell them on.

The batteries and HDMI cable in the boxes always come in handy mind Smiley Wink

Should anybody else read this thread and are looking for a stick or 4K box with a bundled pass then Argos and Curry's are doing a cracking deals leading up to the Black Friday Sales £13.99 for the stick and £24.99 for the 4K box.
