By "dongle" can I assume you are talking about a Now TV stick? If so, how are you connected to power?
Are you connected via USB in the TV or directly into a plug socket with the power permenantly on?
Having used a Now TV stick occassionally, I found it to be a very poor device and overheated often. What I ended up doing was plugging the USB cable into the TV, so it would only be powered up when the TV was on.
Sometimes I often just unplugged it when I wasn't using it just to make sure.
If money isn't too much of an issue, I would suggest checking out a Roku device, especially with Black Friday coming up.
