I had the option of paying an extra £5 a month for Boost, just to get back the service I already had a month ago (i.e. without intrusive ads at the start and in the middle of streaming).  Or the option of just saying to hell with it and cancelling my already overpriced Entertainment and Movies passes.

I took the latter option. There are enough other streaming services out there who don't push ads on a service I'm already paying for - I'll get my content from them from now on.

I have Prime continuously as for £79/annum, I get movies, music and free delivery all ad free.  I have Disney for a year as I took it for £59/annum before price hike.  So they are my core streaming services.

The others are more discretionary.  I have Now Cinema and Entertainment when the email offers can’t be refused, ditto BritBox.  I tend to get Netflix for a month over summer vacation and a month over festive period.

I don’t see the logic of the Sky non-contract option (Now) being so restrictive. It’s not as if I am suddenly going to get a satellite dish.  I ditched that over 20 years ago for OnDigital!  Not been back to Sky since.

They can shove these adverts where the sun does not shine. Fair enough if this was a free service, but it's not. It's also not what it was a year or so ago and the content is now rather weak compared to the cheaper competition.

After 3 adverts back to back before a film I came on here to cancel. A discounted membership for 6 months has made me potentially stay.... for now.

Will put it this way, if it wasn’t for my discounts on all 3 of my memberships including boost to pay £9 a month then I would be gone quicker than the flash!

I find far more of interest on Prime and Disney + these days.  Even BritBox gives Now a run for its money.  Cinema is pretty dire, especially Sky Originals, except the superb Promising Young Woman.  Entertainment is pretty good though, always coming up with something worth watching and a decent back catalogue.

Very poor show by now tv and it will cost them I’m sure.

This service is not value for money. The prices have gone up and the service level has declined. Playing adverts in the middle of a program is pathetic and greedy, only being able to stream on one device at a time, your having a laugh!
I will not be spending another penny on this rubbish and I hope lots and lots of others do the same.

if they are getting greedy or offering a poorer service then hit them where it hurts, in the pocket. Whoever came up with this could cost now tv a lot of business

If you do not want to see adverts then I suggest you take out Boost.

Me personally I’m paying £9 combined for entertainment, movies and boost. Haven’t seen a single advert nor even NOW promotional adverts .

Why an earth do I want to be ripped off an extra £5 for boost? My point is I’m already paying for a service that I was getting without adverts and restrictions on how many family in my house can use at the same time.

this is just greed on now TVs part and I will be talking my business and my money elsewhere

i have just had the same convo with my wife. This is just greed, I have pay tv so I don’t have to watch adverts. I to will be leaving as soon as I can. I’m finding I never watch now tv anyway. Netflix is better so tends to watch that. Waste of money now tv

Cancellation deals for Boost. I’m paying £1 a month and I’m not getting adverts.

I agree I do not pay £10 a month to watch adverts, the trailers at the begining of shows were tolerable as I did find a few ahows to watch from them, but not adverts for products. I do not use the catch up apps for Main channels as they have unskippable adverts. I will most probably be canceling when I have finished the shows I am watching.

@gavs82008

We should not have to pay £5 more a month to get rid of adverts. This makes this service more expensive than there rivals and as far as i'm aware they have no adverts.

Are you not on any discounts?

My post above mentions that for all 3 of my memberships which include Boost I’m paying £9.

And whilst I agree that it’s annoying that you shouldn’t have to pay more to get rid of adverts. But this is exactly the business model that takes place in the US and as Comcast is a US company which owns Sky therefore NOW, they will no doubt want to bring their business model to the UK.

The fact of the matter is, over the course of ring a customer at NOW for 7 years I’ve paid full price maybe 2 or 3 times.

A so many adverts. It's really annoying and makes me want to leave now tv. Sad times.

Been a long time since I received any emailed offers  So have decided to leave Now on 7th July when my current pass ends, Might return if I were to receive any offers in the future but don't think this is going to happen and with all the generous offers people are currently on will possibly dry up in the future with then plowing ahead with there new business model

Regarding offers, I got £1/month for 2 months entertainment in mid-June and £19.97/month for 3 months Sports that has to be taken up by 13th July.  I suspect a Cinema offer is fairly imminent.  I suspect that from 15th July onwards there will be a lot of cancellations…

Why should we pay extra to remove ads? We’re paying already for a service. They should be paying us!

Like many others here I was dismayed to find that NowTV now injects adverts into programmes.  This will be the last time I use them until they reverse this annoying and greedy decision.

It won’t be reversed. Comcast who owns Sky are pushing their own business model regardless of the location.

You will either have to take out boost, or just cancel.

I will be canceling in mid Nov once the DC show's i am currently watching come to an end.

I have also stopped watching anything new like the equalizer or law & order svu as no point starting when im goin to cancel

@gavs82008

What works in one region doesnt mean it is correct for other regions. I can only hope that this will cause a lot of cancelations and they reverse the decision. I regards to boost the only way they will keep me subscribed is by giving me boost free, as I do not pay to watch adverts and I will not pay even more to get rid of them.

Whilst I agree about the adverts, this is just the way things are heading. And that’s regardless of the region.

It'll always be down to pricing. The other memberships are still too expensive to warrant slapping on £5 for boost just to get rid of adverts.

I am as nonplussed as any other user when unwelcome changes are made to our services. But honestly, castigating global corporations for being "greedy," really? Do we really not know how capitalism works?
