Remote Control Codes

We have a Sony TV and according to Sony support they don’t have a remote control code for us to use other remote controls.

We’ve been using the NowTV stick and the remote that came with that worked with our TV straight away without having to enter any codes.

We’d now like to use another remote for our TV, so I’m wondering if anyone knows what codes the NowTV remote uses so we can try them in our new remote?

We’ve already tried the majority of codes we’ve found online when searching for Sony remote control codes but no joy 😞

Hi @Anonymous User

The problem is that Sony don’t define the codes, the makers of the universal remotes do.

And the code is really only a label for the bunch of individual keypress codes that map the buttons on the remote to tasks that the TV understands,

The NowTV remote gets a clue from the make and model of TV, which is information exchanged in the initial pairing, so it knows only to try relevant codes, and why it linked first time out with your Sony TV; but if it didn’t, it might try up to 20 combinations until it found one that muted the TV, which is a usually reliable, but not guaranteed, indicator that this code set also covers the correct On/Standby, and volume up/down, codes you need.

Set a Payment PIN on your account so that no-one but you can buy memberships on it.
Check your bank accounts monthly for any other unexpected payments to Now.
That way you can at least nip them in the bud, while you and Now figure out whose fault they are.
