I have had the now stick for a couple of weeks now, today when watching live sport the stick lost internet connection and when internet connection came back it kept buffing, I looked at the settings and it showed poor internet connection. I checked my speed and it was showing fast on the speed test.
I went and checked the speed on my roku stick on my tv upstairs and it showed good connection , so I swopped them over and the roku again showed good connection where the now stick showed up bad connection again. My Roku stick has not buffed at all where the now stick still does once in a while.
This is telling me that the new now stick has a problem where picking up WiFi , but why as there both made by Roku.
I have now kept the Roku attached to my main tv even though it is older and has a slower response time. I’m considering getting a new up to date Roku stick to replace the new Now stick.

Since connecting to the mains rather than to my USB port on tv and forcing an update , every thing seems ok, so hopefully my problem is solved. Only time will tell .

Before you ditch the smart stick, perhaps look a HDMI extender to see if it improves the WiFi reception by moving the stick slightly away from the casing of your main TV.

@schnapps yes but that doesn’t explain as to why my Roku stick works with good connection showing on both tv’s and the Now stick shows poor. So what could be so different in these sticks to make one pick up a better signal then the other.

If your Router is dual band, have you checked if the smart stick and Roku stick are on the same WiFi frequency i.e. Are they both on 2.4 ghz or 5ghz ?
Would have thought the smart stick would have the better inbuilt WiFi antenna compared to the old Roku stick.

@schnapps Please could you explain how I check this , My router is a virgin hub don’t know what is ment by duel band or how I check the ghz

Not familiar with the Virgin Hub Routers, but on my BT Router it is setup has dual band, where if i go into my Roku Stick Plus menu settings > network > about, it tells me the network name and if i am on either 5ghz or 2.4ghz WiFi band.
If you go into both your Roku stick and nowtv smart stick network settings, just check if your smart stick is on the same network (you never know one might be on 2.4ghz and the other on 5ghz).
If so, try the smart stick on the same freq band as your Roku stick.

@schnapps just had a quick look at settings, It doesn’t actually say what ghz there on but does say there both on channel 11 if that meens anything

Sounds like they are both on the same network, so ignore my post which was wishful thinking on my part
If your Virgin Hub Router is dual band, maybe try both freq bands on your nowtv stick to see which band offers the better WiFi reception on the smart stick.
Hopefully, other helpful forum members can offer you further advice and suggestions to try on your smart stick.
