Not sure what's happening on your TV screen unless you can post a photo on here what it is showing.
Should it have said something like "No signal" or "No HDMI Source" then i would have said it was a HDMI handshake issue between the stick and television or the TV HDMI input source on your television screen had changed HDMI channels.
You could try pressing the HDMI input source button on your television remote to see if anything reappears back on your screen.
Or power down your television and stick and try again (make sure you are not using a HDMI splitter and the stick is plugged directly into one of your television HDMI input sockets).
If no luck, try another television in your home temporarily with the stick until you get it working or perhaps a full factory reset on the stick.
