Now Stick Voice Activation Issues.

Back in April this year purchased new Now TV Smart Stick when the issues with the Roku problem was not fully resolved.

Everything has been working fine till a couple of weeks ago and am now having issues with the Voice Active Search. Messages from "cannot understand what your saying", "cannot hear you", and when it has worked does not give me the right programme, or even comes up with a search screen with a previous show we have watched. Have now reverted to the old way of searching for the programmes. Oh and one time told me to change the batteries in the controller after two months (no way have they gone flat).

Anyone have any ideas/fixes ???

Personally I’ve never used the voice search with my old NOw stick.

So I can only provide some links for the stick on troubleshooting

I did not have to do a hard factory reset thankfully but did check the Voice Remote setting and found that the battery power was 20% which found strange but changed them and will see how long these last, did update and found that seems to have cured the issue.

The NOW smart voice remote is notorious for draining batteries.

 

With my NOW 4K Smart Box and Roku Stick Plus i would be lucky to get 4 weeks use before changing batteries on them.

 

Using high quality branded batteries help, where from my experience using cheap batteries when the battery level was under 50% left i was getting a unresponsive remote (temporary removing the batteries helped for a day or so until i had to undertake the same exercise once again).

 

Higher quality batteries seem more responsive once the remote battery level hit below 50%.

Hi @Marcus71 

 

If you type something like " Battery Life" or "Batteries Draining" or something along those lines in the Community Search box towards the top of the Forum pages, you will find quite a few people have reported poor battery life on the NOW Smart Voice Remotes.

 

Where i am guessing it is related to the Voice Smart remotes operates over direct wifi and is constantly using battery performance compared to a conventional remote control that runs over Infra Red when you press a button on it.

INSTALL on your phone "Roku - Official Remote Control" and control the TV from your phone. Works for both Apple and Android phones
