Krack WiFi Vulnerability

For the NOW TV team

Please advise asap on if a patch or update needs to be issued for the Now TV routers. You say you take clients security seriously, and yet we have seen no information on whether a patch is required or whether you will send an update automatically ( or manually required ?) and when. If it is not required - then tell us.  If it is required - then tell us !

If proximity is an issue for a hacker to exploit the security, then this is important for Now TV users in built up areas and apartment blocks.

Also the default settings for the SSID show the router is obviously a 'NOW TV router'..... and the default admin settings make it easy for a hacker to gain access with wifi.  (Unlike some other routers with indivdual/specific unit admin settings).

Quite frankly, im dissapointed/amused at how NOWTV are dealing with this.

Ive seen numerous threads on these forums stating how they are chekcing if their devices require a patch (considering the vulnerability affects WPA2, so yes your routers need a patch. If you arent patching your customers routers then I would question whether you are pathcing your own internal routers which in that case becomes a company wide threat.)

Ive also seen replies where NOWTV support members are reffering KRACK to an Android vulnerability, does anyone keep ontop of the latest threats/news? it takes 1 look at the main article "https://www.krackattacks.com/" to realise that it affects WPA2 and all associated devices which includes routers and all smartphones inlcuding Apple "http://appleinsider.com/articles/17/10/16/apple-confirms-krack-wi-fi-wpa-2-attack-vector-patched-in-..." microsoft  and google.

Im amused and very concerned at how little NOWTV tech support knows about this, or anything in that matter considering all they relate to is their own community forums.

wow...still no follow up, or even a reply since October ...I guess it is not taken very seriously...and neither is a response to customers with genuine concerns on safety and security regarding Now TV router hubs.
