username / password not recognized - April 2017

* issue: was working yesterday and today, challenges me to login but, error msg = sorry, we don't recognize your username or password

* login via laptop - no problem

* actions taken:

  1. reset - no change; 2. new pw - no change; 3. power off / on - no change

* observations:

 1. on reset - uname/pw accepted for installation - install completes OK ( apps & network connection )

 2. HOME Screen - not populated

 3. Catchup Screen: not populated, , says check network connections

 4. Network connection: 3 green arrows

 5. Apps: can still connect to and watch all apps - BBC, Tunein, ITV etc.

 6. Apps: select NowTV - My tv - login challenge - not accepted

     (note: entertainment, sport, films - all populated)

 

note: no special characters or numeric numbers in the 9 digit all lowercase pw

this has happened before and then miraculously... started to work again i.e. accepted my login (that was in January)

 

As an IT guy (and given the number of people hitting this issue)... I'd say the problem is in the NowTV authention server - just my 5 cents.

As an IT guy you should know that it's good practice to re-boot routers (and ethernet switches) every now and again, as it often helps resolve desynchronising (data packet) errors, clears RAM build-up errors and even static build-up that can cause 'switching' errors!

The standard practice is to disconnect the devices power for around 30 seconds before reconnecting...
