New Router and VOIP Phone

I had NowTV internet installed yesterday but my VOIP phone won't work.  Says no network available yet I have an ethernet wire from phone to the router.  I've had a Techie at work remote in and take a look but he says that the IP address for the phone is not showing.  I can't get hold of anyone via the chat as it's not working at the moment.  Any ideas anyone?

Hi Manual

Just spoke to my own ISP, not Now TV, about what would be needed to have VOIP?

I was told, apart from fibre connected to your home and a specialised phone your ISP would have to have that facility on offer, and not all ISPs have VOIP to offer.

So, are you saying connecting Cisco IP phone for working from home is not possible?

I really don't get what you're saying about what I reported this morning, to summarise your ISP must have VOIP as a facility to offer you.

Please don't read anything else into what I have just written

Bab

just read what you wrote and calm down!

if you don’t know what a IP phone is just educate yourself. It’s not a service ISP need to offer but just allow it to work and not filtering it as NOWTV does.

OK Manual

Being calm, I personally have never used a VOIP phone or ever desired to use one, so this morning I phoned up my ISP's help desk and got someone that knew what he was talking about, i.e. actually worked with VOIP.

He was the one that told me that an ISP had to have the facility to offer it's customers, now if that's wrong I'll live, learn and move on.

@Anonymous User I don't have NowTV broadband but I believe that the hubs are the same as sky hubs (they're the same company) so try the sky community for answers. Have a look through the linked thread for a start.

Was this issue ever solved?

I use a Snom320 VOIP phone with Sipgate line...

Ever since moving to NowTV Broadband, the phone disconnects from the Sip servers ever few hours and requires a reboot.

I read on Sky that ALG must be switched off, but the NowTV routers don't have this option.

Has anyone ever fixed this issue?

TIA,

Chris
