Are you using the original remote that came with your box and not the new smart remote that came with the stick ?
If you are trying to use the smart remote that come with the stick, then this remote will not work until you have setup the stick and paired the remote to it (then the smart remote will work with the box apart from a couple of buttons including the voice search).
Should you be using the old remote with the nowtv box, then try fresh new batteries and maybe undertake a full factory reset on the box.
