Smart stick does not recognise any remote apart from ap on phone

Hi- I have two smart sticks. On one of them neither nowtv remote works at all, but I can use the ap in my phone to control the device- anybody know why the remotes would not work? Only got the device over Christmas. Thanks

Where did you purchase the stick, was it with Now TV directly?
