I've just purchased a nowtv stick along with cinema and boost.
Now the 1080 upgrade is working fine but I cannot get 5.1 sound.
My set up is samsung 4k tv and onkyo nr686 amp.
I have plugged the stick into the amp and I only get stereo and direct into the tv to pass via ARC to the amp, but this is still in stereo too.
So on the stick I have disabled the sound levelling.
I have found that it makes no difference if plugged into the amp or the TV, I get the following.
Set as stereo, i get stereo output.
Set as Dolby digital, i get stereo
Set as Dolby digital plus, i get no sound
Set as Dolby digital plus/DTS, I get no sound
Every other device I plug into my amp, like nvidia shield, all come out in 5.1/7.1 but not this stick.
Is there a bug in these sticks?
Hi @Anonymous User
If you have just activated the Boost Pass directly on the NowTV website under My Account > Passes & Vouchers on here, then it takes 4 hours to kick in.
The work around is to sign out and log back into the NowTV App on your Stick by going to the My Account section on the NowTV App on the stick.
If you bought the Boost pass directly from the Stick, then the above doesn't apply and should normally kick in straight away if everything is running correctly.
Hi @Anonymous User
Don't know if there is something in this similar linked thread below that helps or not, where i am out of ideas.
I never got this working at all.
I'm stuck with stereo sound and so I cancelled the boost package.
It seems to me that this support forum is provided by the community and Now TV themselves don't offer any support at all. Shame.
I will wait for my months movies to expire and then go elsewhere.
I have found the fix and hopefully this will help some others.
So I have my now TV stick plugged into my Onkyo amp.
NowTV audio settings are set to Dolby Digital plus/DTS which as many have found gives no sound.
With the sound set as above goto the settings within the Onkyo amp.
From there goto > Source > Audio Select and then set 'PCM Fixed Mode' to OFF.
I now have full sound and the amp says its 5.1 dts.
Hopefully that'll help some of you.
