Now TV remote not working

Bought a NOW Stick today and successfully connected on TV. However, despite it being paired during setup and using it to enter my password, when the Now Purple screen with the yellow letters appear on my TV sreen, I can't get it to work.  The screen just stays there and I have used the live help chat line but with no success.  She eventually told me to take it back to the store I bought it in.   Can anyone help?

Hi I cant help sorry but the same thing is happening to my nieces. We are managing to get to the home screen but can scroll up or down. There is a reset button on the stick and the controller which helped get it to that part. Trying to speak to someone is a nightmare. If you find a suitable please let me know.
