I have a Now Stick, with current firmware. It works happily on one TV in the house. I have just tried to connect it to the TV that I used with my Now White Box and i currently connected to a Roku 4200 box which has worked fine for many years. The TV is a Toshiba 42hl57-42 - details here https://www.cnet.com/products/toshiba-42hl57-42-lcd-tv-hd/
When I power up the Now Stick I get the blue NowTV logo, a spinning circle for 5-10 seconds, and then the TV goes black.
I have done a reset, and plugged the stick into the other TV and I see it is in the language setup stage. When I plug it into the Toshiba TV and press the back button on the remote I hear a 'burp' noise which I usually hear when at the Main menu and try to go back.
Has anyone had this issue? Any help would be gratefully received. The Euros are starting soon! 😉

When you say that you have done a reset, do you mean that you have done a factory reset to the stick itself?

Yes, pressed reset button for 30 seconds. Then plugged into working TV (RCA), and went through setup and update. Returned to Toshiba, logo appears, and then goes black.
Hi @Anonymous User
What I would try is on the television that the Stick is currently working on, go into the Stick menu Settings and under Display select 720p.
Then swap the Stick onto the Toshiba television.
If that doesn't work go into the Toshiba menu Settings and see if it has an option for CEC HDMI (Regza Link) and switch it off to see if that makes any difference.
Also should you be using an external HDMI switcher box then bypass it and plug the Stick directly into the HDMI port on the television.
If the Toshiba television has more than one HDMI port, then try them all.
Will try 720p as suggested, although Toshiba is a 1080p screen.
Stick is plugged directly into Toshiba HDMI port, and I have tried the stick in both of the two HDMI ports - same result.
Hi @Anonymous User
According to the link you posted the Toshiba spec says 720p.
Also see if there is a Regza link HDMI CEC setting in the Toshiba menu that you can switched off to see if that forces a picture on the television screen when using the NOW Stick.
There is no HDMI setting for CEC Regza
Roku box settings while connected to Toshiba TV shows 1080p HDMI 1.4

Just being nosy.
How long have you had the NOW stick for?
Now stick was bought in late 2019, and activated in Jan 2020
@Anonymous User
Sounds like its had a good run.
That being said I don't know how long the NOW sticks are meant to last with consistent use. Have you considered purchasing another Roku stick or Amazon fire stick?
Next test is to take it over to neighbour's TV and see what happens.
Update - took it over to neighbour. Their TV is a ROKU TV and is 2 years old. Stick came up fine with app screen.
Back to my errant Toshiba and no change - still splash screen and then black. Tried changing the Pic Mode using Toshiba remote and discovered that the Pic Mode menu doesn't display over the Now stick Black screen.
I suspect that this will end with purchase of a new TV - Mrs. Nowandthen2 will not be happy if she can't watch Tour de France on Channel 4!
Thank you to everyone who has replied.
Hi @Anonymous User
If you don't want to fork out a lot of money for a replacement television then maybe consider an alternative NOW supported playback device.
Do you know anybody who has an Amazon Fire Stick for example you can temporary borrow to test out on your Toshiba television ?
I doubt this has any bearing, but i would try both 2.4ghz and 5ghz wifi frequencies on the Stick (even if the Stick worked on another television in a different room in your home) should your Router be dual band.
Hi @Anonymous User
Whilst trying both wifi frequency bands on your Router (assuming you have a dual band Router) with the NOW Stick, also try unplugging the Router at the power outlet for about 2 minutes if you haven't done it already.
if you do manage to borrow another NOW Supported playback device to hook up with your Toshiba television that is not a NOW Stick, then make sure after use you log out completely on the NOW App with your sign in details under the My Account tile box at the bottom of the NOW App home screen page.
Set stick to 720p on working TV, moved stick to Toshiba - problem persists
