Just arrived home ready to relax and watch tv, only I switch it on and greeted by the above ‘Sorry unavailable’ message. So, did what I always do when having a crisis, grabbed the phone and asked Siri! The first thing that came up was the pressing of home, forward and rewind button and worked perfectly. Crisis over within 5 mins so If you find urself with same issue then defo do that first.
I've found a solution to my problem, it's a DNS issue. I use PiHole to block adverts network wide and to secure my DNS lookups. Once I whitelisted the following domains, the Now TV stick worked as normal:
What this also means is that anyone who uses parental controls that block sites based on DNS look-ups (i.e. pretty much all of them) won't be able to use Now TV sticks unless they turn the controls off. Quite honestly, that's rubbish and really, really poor customer experience from Now TV. I'd advise anyone in this position to make a complaint using Now TV's complaints procedure and demand that they resolve this through a software update. Don't be fobbed off if they tell you to turn your parental controls off as a solution, it's not and I guarantee the Ofcom will not look favourably on them if you decide to take your complain to that level.
