iPod 5 - iOS 9.3.5 fails to play

As of a few months ago this device was playing fine.  Now nothing at all happens when I tap on a programme to play it.

 

Nothing also happens when I tap on a programme expecting it to open the episode list.

 

It crashes totally when I tap Entertainment>>All TV Shows

 

App has been removed and reinstalled - I have removed it from the device list.

 

Any ideas people?

This is the same problem many of us are having since the last software update a few weeks ago.

 

I don't hold out much hope as customer service have identified the problem and have now gone silent.
