I have tried several times to buy a Day Pass but upto now never once been successful.
I am using an iPad. I select the pass proceed to payment, enter my card information, the offer is for £5.99 but each time it takes £1 under pending then returns it. I get an error, something went wrong please try again. I try again same day, different day, different month - same outcome every time. If the £1 goes through it proves my card is working, but why are they trying for £1 each time rather than the £5.99?

Are you trying to buy it on the app or on web browser?
If it’s the latter you tried another browser?
