@caseyb1993 @schnapps @ukbobboy and anyone else with an infantile sense of humour
So here it is, the super bumper fun TV adverts from childhood thread (blame Casey she started it with Rowntree's Fruit Pastilles .... the only thing you can really do with a Rowntree's Fruit Pastille is .... you know the rest!)
Nobody likes watching ads these days they just lack the smile, childish elegance of our rose-tinted youth (ie everything was naff but we thought it was fab at the time).
So regardless of age, share your favourite TV ads from your yoof. The funnier, wittier, or sing-along-addictive the better.
I've got SOOOO many to choose from, but here's a couple of my favourites to kick things off.
The Smash mashed potato alien robots from
And my all time favourite PG Tips chimp ad (I LOOOVE a good monkey ad), Mr Shifter the removal chimp ... All together now .... "Cooeeeeee Mr Shifter...."

Yes you are spot on the money with the Hovis Bread commercial
I am suprised you didn't know the Director (He was the Director on one of my favourite franchise movies ever).
No cheating by googling Hovis famous Hollywood Director (lets see if somebody else knows without using the internet for the answer).

His brother was pretty good too 😉

Yeah, obviously you know who he is
Perhaps @ukbobboy can figure out his name now from your clue where he had a brother who was also a famous Director.
Another clue, there was an android in the movie.

Yeah it's Ridley Scott and the Alien franchise is right towards the top of my favourite movies ever (also really enjoyed Gladiator)

Me and a mate had an 80s themed night recently to try and convince her two kids that being a kid in the 80s really was as good as we keep telling them (they quite enjoyed 80s karaoke but were less impressed with The A-Team and Knight Rider)
So evening meal was a slap up combo of Findus crispy pancakes, potato waffles and garden peas. We were shocked to see that crispy pancakes are no longer luminous orange and tasted very bland (don't know why they got rid of all those artificial colours and flavourings, they never did me any harm .....)
But in celebration here are ads for a smashing 80s kids tea-time, I used to sing along to the potato waffles ad and everyone used to pop to the pea ad! (Aww look it's likkle Patsy Kensit!!)

@Andy Crispy pancakes are the invention of the devil! They were disgusting in the 90's, never mind now! 😄
My brother was addicted to them and he still has them now and again but I always thought they were like eating rubber.
Pizza fingers and Alphabet potatoes or Smiley potatoes was my Friday reward if I did all my homework though. 🙂

@caseyb1993 Haha to be fair fish fingers were my favourite, but I'm sure crispy pancakes tasted a lot better as a kid, I stopped eating them at about 11 tho so maybe I'm just imagining they tasted good. I could have also sworn they were glow in the dark as well and the peas were Incredible Hulk green. We might not have had 4K HDR TVs back then but everything sure seemed more colourful! 😄
