Sky sports passes

Hi.

I have a Now TV sky sports month pass which I’m using to watch the F1 via Fire Stick.

I also have a mobile pass yet when I try to watch the football on my mobile I get the error message saying I’m streaming on too many devices.

any ideas why?

I take it both are on the same Now account, and you don’t have Boost?

Now dropped the simultaneous streaming limit from two to one a few months back, unless you have Boost, when you can have three streams going at once,

And if you want to switch seamlessly from one device to another, it’s important to exit the programme you were watching, and not to just pause it, exit the Now app, or switch the device off.

If you exit the programme cleanly, then Now will detect this straight away and let you watch on another device straight away; quit it any other way, and it will be up to ten minutes before Now notice this.

Set a Payment PIN on your account so that no-one but you can buy memberships on it. Check your bank accounts monthly for any other unexpected payments to Now. That way you can at least nip them in the bud, while you and Now figure out whose fault they are.
If you take an offer that comes with a ‘free trial’ of Boost or another Membership, Cancel them straight away. You will still get the full duration of the trial, and if you decide you do want to continue with one or another of the trial products, just revisit the Cancel, and UnCancel it.

Hi @Anonymous User

You should normally be able to watch on your Fire Stick with the full blown Sports Membership and on your smartphone with a Mobile Sports Membership at the same time.

https://help.nowtv.com/article/sports-membership

I am assuming with regards to the Football on your smartphone with the Mobile Membership you are watching Sky Sports Premier League and not attempting Sky Sports Main Event or Sky Sports Football which will flag up the maximum Simultaneous streams (unless you have Boost).

Many thanks for the replies.

Yes both the passes are on the same account, but my mobile pass isn’t allowing me to watch on my phone while streaming the F1 on the Firestick.

Hi @Anonymous User

If you are definitely attempting to watch Sky Sports Premier League and not the other two channels that i mentioned.

Then maybe try a sign out and sign back in on the NOW App on your smartphone and try Sky Sports Premier League again.

If that doesn't work try a fresh NOW App download on your smartphone from your phone Apps Store.

Yes, only one stream per account.  So having a mobile pass alongside a monthly sports pass is a waste.

Best thing to do is to put the passes on different accounts in the future.

But you can’t buy a separate Mobile Sports Membership any more.

So you what - buy a Day pass you don’t really need on the new account, just to get the Mobile one nearly two weeks later?

Set a Payment PIN on your account so that no-one but you can buy memberships on it. Check your bank accounts monthly for any other unexpected payments to Now. That way you can at least nip them in the bud, while you and Now figure out whose fault they are.

I guess it turns on the meaning of ‘buy’.

Now say:-

No longer available to buy (existing Sports Mobile Members only)

So yes you can renew, as you show, but you can’t buy new.

Better perhaps if Now had said that, e.g.

No longer available to buy new (existing Sports Mobile Members only)

Set a Payment PIN on your account so that no-one but you can buy memberships on it. Check your bank accounts monthly for any other unexpected payments to Now. That way you can at least nip them in the bud, while you and Now figure out whose fault they are.

You can see my advice differs from @schnapps says. If schnapps is correct, then I apologise.

But I think the link schnapps gave is capable of either interpretation, so we still don’t know if what you are seeing in the normal situation I think it might be, or the problem it would be from schnapps’ interpretation,

Perhaps he knows how this should go from other experience (I’ve never had either Sports pass, even the Day pass I was once given expired before I could use it).

I really do wonder if Now anticipated all the fallout there would be from this Scrooge-like reduction from 2 to 1 streams?

Many thanks for your help all.

Tried deleting and reinstalling with no joy.

As said it looks like there is no point having mobile and now TV passes at the same time.

Not the end of the world as my mobile pass was a freebie with a day pass I bought a while back. Still a bit disappointing though.

On the plus side its saved me seeing Everton get spanked by Man City!

Hi @RoyB

My understanding in the past you could purchase a full blown Sports Membership and a separate Mobile Sports Membership on the same account and watch with the full blown Sports Membership and Mobile Sports Membership at the same time (as long has you follow the NOW rules when using a Mobile Sports Membership).

Maybe this has changed since you can't purchase a Mobile Sports Membership anymore and the only way to get the Mobile Sports Membership is a freebie with the Day Sports Pass offer.

Perhaps all that has changed is the drop from 2 to 1 simultaneous streams, and the issue was always there before, but you would have to have started a third stream to experience it?

Hi @RoyB

I don't think so (might be wrong).

Why would NOW allow you to purchase a full blown Sports Membership and a Mobile Sports Membership on the same account in the past.

The Mobile Sports Membership would be pointless (unless i am over looking something which is always a possibility).

Because in the past, we all had at least two streams per account, which was enough to support such usage.

And I agree it would seem to be pointless if both passes ran for the same length of time, but you might have a shorter run on the full Sports for something not on the Mobile Pass (which Now wouldn’t let you park while the full one was running).

No just one stream per account.

It is pointless, I ended up with both running concurrently due to buying a fully blown sports pass whilst having a mobile pass, thanks to a day pass I applied back in June.
