Hi
If I purchase the Sky Sports Day Pass now will it begin today when i start using the mobile phone app?
I want to watch the Cup final tomorrow but wondered if i made the purchase today could i still watch content via my mobile phone today?
Or will the whole thing begin - meaning it would expire tomorrow morning
apologies if the question seems convaluted!
thanks
Andy
Hi @Andy4
Any reason why you want to buy the Day Sports Membership this morning instead of late tonight or tomorrow?
I have not used a Day Membership with a Mobile Membership at the same time, but my guess (and it is a guess) that if you try any of the six Sky Sports channels not permitted on your smartphone it will either ask you do you want to start the Day Membership or automatically start the Day Membership, where if you was using the phone on the permitted five Sky Sports channels it will continue to run off your Mobile Sports Membership.
This is a pure guess on my part and I would be more comfortable if you ask the question directly to NOW live chat for the answer.
Do you want a link to NOW live chat to contact them?
Hi Schnapps
thanks for your reply. So basically you get the 1 x month Mobile membership included free when you purchase the day membership (i currently do not subscribe to any tv or mobile membership plan). If i purchased the 1 x day membership now then i could set up my mobile phone app to watch sky sports via that today, and then watch the cup final at home on the tv tomorrow. BUT what I want to know is, if i started to watch the sky sports app today, would that trigger the TV 1 x day membership - or would that not begin till i start watching it via the TV?
thanks
danny
Hi @Andy4
If you haven't got the Mobile Sports Membership yet and looking at the freebie 9 month Mobile Membership that comes with the current Day Sports Membership offer then unfortunately this Mobile Membership takes up to 10 days to automatically apply to your account.
So you won't be able to use the Mobile Sports Membership straight away.
So in this case don't buy the Day Pass until later tonight or tomorrow if you want to watch the Caraboa cup final tomorrow afternoon.
Hi @Andy4
Have a read of this link article below about the Mobile Membership especially the FAQ about when it comes free with another offer where it takes up to 10 days to be automatically added to your account.
https://help.nowtv.com/article/how-do-i-use-my-sports-mobile-membership
With the current offer on the NOW website it's a free 9 month Mobile Sports Membership when you purchase the Day Membership.
I would hold off buying the Day Sports Membership until late tonight or tomorrow bearing in mind once you start the Day Sports Membership you have actually 24 hours from the time you start watching.
@schnapps (or anyone who knows)
If I go to My Account/Manage Account/Now Membership/Sports Day Membership, and choose Add Membership, what happens?
Hi @RoyB
I haven't used a Day Sports Pass in a couple years (approx 6 to 7 years).
But from memory once the Day Pass is purchased (which I would do from this link below because of the current inclusive 9 month Mobile Sports Membership).
https://www.nowtv.com/sports-purchase
Then you can either start the Day Sports Membership by going to your online account under My Membership where from memory the Day Membership should say something like activate Day Membership where there is a button to click on or from your NOW App playback devices start watching one of the Sky Sports channels (again can't remember if it asks you on screen from the App, do you really want to start the Day Pass and if so you need to click on some sort of confirm button or it just automatically plays).
Not sure if this has answered your question ?
My first post assumed the OP already had a Mobile Sports Membership and wanted to buy a Day Sports Pass for tomorrow's Football Cup Final because they wanted to watch on a TV or PC rather than their smartphone screen and the final is not on one of the Sky Sports channels covered by the Mobile Membership.
Yes - but you seemed to have him putting off buying the Day Pass until tomorrow, whereas I thought he could buy it now - to be sure he has it - but not to actually activate it until he was ready.
And then, like you, I’m not sure what would happen if he tried to start watching a Sports channel early:-
If one of the five, and on a smartphone, I hope it would run as part of the mobile pass, and ignore the pending Day pass.
If not one of the five, though, or one of them but not on a mobile, I hope it would want confirmation that the Day pass should be activated, and not just launch into it.
I wonder if anyone knows the answers here? I’m not curious enough to spend £12 finding out 😛
Hi @RoyB
Thought it was wise has a matter of caution, just in case other family members who have access to the NOW App started the Day Sports Membership on their playback devices outside the 24 hour time frame window with regards to the Football cup final that the OP wants to watch.
I also did say that the OP could also purchase the Day Sports Pass this evening well in advance of the game in question.
Good thinking! My next thought was, Hey wouldn’t a Payment PIN stop anyone who didn’t know it from starting the Pass - but of course, it’s already paid for 😢
