Can I access BT Sport on now TV? To watch champions League matches.

Slightly off topic but still on BT Sports. 

It would appear that the BT Sports app for Smart TVs have catch up available. I have yet to test this as I don't often use BT Sports on my Samsung TV.

Just more proof that BT Sports is far better than Now TV in terms of quality and content availability with 1080p at 50fps and catch-up.

Not to mention that 4K also coming sometime this year. 

Yet literary nothing from Now TV when 1080p is launching and if any other improvements will be made based on previous surveys.

Looking like its Monday 22nd July 2019 for the launch date for BT Sport to appear on now tv boxes. Go into google and type in new freeview channels forthcoming and click on forthcoming changes. It has the forthcoming changes of all digital platforms.

Do you happen to have a link for a source or was it over the phone with their customer service reps?

As much as I want to believe you, just the lack of official word from BT or Sky makes me think it wont be happening in July. Hopefully I am proven completely wrong though.

CS reps won't know until very soon before launch. Talking to a friend who is a Sky CS rep he says they haven't been given a date yet.

Considering there is nothing on the BT upgrade TV & Extras website regarding Now TV, I am inclined to believe there has been no official date given from either BT or Sky

Unless you get confirmation from a CS in BT with an email/link to back it up I don't see it happening quite yet unfortunately. 

As I already have access to BT sport through the app on my Samsung TV thanks to my EE contract and also have Now TV through the app on the TV, my interest in the launch onto BT TV for Now TV and BT Sports on Sky/Now TV as a package is to see what improvements are going to be in place for Now TV.

@gavs82008 I'm interested in the NowTV on BT Youview part of the deal as I'm keen on being able to record the Sky Sports channels. Of course none of this will matter if Sky continue to provide their sports channels at 25fps. I'm not signing up to Sky Sports on any platform if the framerate stays as is.

If they don't launch before the new football season I'll probably bow out completely.

No-one knows how it's going to be sold on NowTV. As far as 'big' Sky is concerned I think it will be available as part of a new 'Sports bundle'. There is of course the likelihood it will be much cheaper to buy from BT direct, especially if you already have a BT Broadband contract. The important thing to do once this new cross platform deal goes live will be to add up the sums of everything you want and decide from there who you should 'tie in' with.

Personally, as I already have BT Sport via my BT TV package, I'm waiting for the pricing to access Sky Sports via BT Youview. Only with (BT) Youview will you be able to record all the channels, something you can't do with NowTV or Roku devices. To get what I want will mean subbing via BT rather than buying from Sky/NowTV.

Good point about how it will be sold. I am not 100% convinced it will be available to Now TV customers from day 1. I suspect BT would want to have a longer commitment than a day pass for sports (a month minimum, but more likely 12 months) . Whilst that is possible with the normal Sky subscription, it would be unlike the other Now TV options.

Personally I hope BT follow the same day/week/month structure that Now TV has. Whilst I would buy the week/month when the UEFA football and FA Cup are on, I would only want it for the occasional premier league game, especially as they have them at 12.30 this year when I am often going to a game.

A well placed and usually ultra reliable source has been on the Digitalspy forums saying it will take at least another 3 months before everything is in place for this cross supply deal to come to fruition (BT Sport on NowTV & Sky Sports on BTTV).

According to here https://www.tvchannellists.com/Forthcoming_changes_to_digital_platforms_%28UK_%26_Ireland%29 the date has been put back until the 22nd BUT the general concensus among people testing the product is that date will continue to be pushed back with a more likely launch date being 3 months down the line. Ultimately no-one knows until an official announcement is made and I don't think either party is in any big rush at the moment. Personally I feel it could be September just before the Champions League and Europa League group stages begin as Sky will want to promote the BT Sport channels to Sky customers so as to complete the full offering of football rights both currently hold, and which you will be able to pay via one 'super sports' package.

I'm sorry but you are misreading that, far from official, guide. The events which are dated are known, the NOW TV details are simply aspirant events expected, as estimated based on preliminary information, in July of this year. Yes there are some leaks around surrounding the introduction of HD and the linked processes involved thereof, but that's all. It's tragic that we're not being told officially of precise information, but there are significant changes involved especially as it seems that NOW TV is planning to offer a two tier service. I'm not defending the delay there's no excuse for missing the end of 2018 offer, but that's where we are with Sky.

Sorry @gavs82008 @Anonymous User but I'm misreading nothing. I used that link as that is the page @UKTVPlayapp told us to check a few pages back and which I contradicted at the time. I'm merely pointing out that you can't rely on 3rd party sites for accurate and up to date information.

I do know a little more than I can share publicly which is very frustrating to say the least especially as I wouldn't like to get my source in R&D into any trouble with his bosses 😀

It is a shame though that big companies nowadays don't keep their customers informed when delays and changes arise. I think it would gain more trust if they were to do just that.

On a personal level I'm more interested in full NowTV coming to BTTV as I'm a BT customer who already takes their Max 4K tv package. I won't be taking any possible season pass with NowTV this year and if, as expected, nothing happens before the beginning of August I'll happily stick with BT Sport on BTTV and use the excellent Radio 5Live coverage for anything on Sky Sports 😀

Did not mean that there was misinterpretation information. 

The most frustrating part is the lack of updates from Sky and BT on this, more annoyingly that Ireland seems to have more updates and information than us in the UK. 

Of course I would never expect you to give your source especially when it is someone in R&D. It would be handy if even an update from Sky/BT saying something along the lines that gives us a rough ETA like sometime in August/September, instead of mid 2019 which is all it really states on the Sky website. 

Given that link provide by @UKTVPlayapp mentions July and still there is no news from BT/Sky it would certainly appear that there will be a further delay, which is nothing surprising for us Now TV customers!

That being said I am happy to pay and cancel BT sports casting for £10 a month as part of my EE Max plan mobile contract. 

The hope is that there will be a raft of majorly needed enhancements for Now TV when it makes the full launch on BT boxes, like 1080p, 5.1 surround sound, Sky sports catch up, allowing 4 streams at once.
