Can I access BT Sport on now TV? To watch champions League matches.

Hi @Anonymous User

Unfortunately at the moment there is no BT Sport on the NowTV service Smiley Sad.

There is a cross supply agreement between BT & NowTV where the BT Sport App is maybe coming to the NowTV boxes & stick.

Where this information is still a little sketchy at the moment and no official date has been confirmed apart from it's apparently going to happen sometime during 2019.

I would have thought if it was going to happen then this week would have been the ideal time.  BT have Champions League + Europa League + FA Cup in the next few days and could have sold a bundle of passes or at least got people in on a trial.   Maybe Sky and BT are holding fire until 6 nations is off terrestrial and F1 starts.

I cancelled BT Sport on Virgin hoping that something would have been announced, but guess I will be going back in early March and stumping up £18/month for another couple of months.

If you want access to 'Eurosport' (as well as 'Sky Sports' via one of the 'NOW TV' passes) you can always pick up a Roku Express - currently £24 from Amazon UK, AO, and Tesco... or £24.99 from Argos, Media Streaming Market, and Very, if any of those are better for you - because there's Roku channels (i.e. apps) for both Amazon's "Prime Video" and "TVPlayer" through which you can watch 'Eurosport', although FWIW the one I prefer is Amazon's because it has 'Eurosport Player' with all the "Extra" options, whereas TVPlayer's app only gives access to 'Eurosport 1' and 'Eurosport 2' as part of their package. The only caveat with using "Prime Video" for 'Eurosport Player' is that you have to be an Amazon Prime member before you can subscribe to 'Eurosport Player' (at an additional cost) but it's been faultless for me so far and the picture quality is great - something that's not always the case when streaming content from 'TVPlayer', in my experience.

As others have mentioned, 'BT Sport' should be available by "mid-2019" as a separate app in the Roku-Powered™ 'App Store' found on 'NOW TV' devices and, as a Roku channel (app) in it's own right, I would also expect to see it made available on Roku devices in the UK at around the same time. Were I to hazard a guess, I would say this will be around June/July time... but, with the FA already having confirmed the start date of the 2019/20 PL Season as  Saturday 10th August 2019, I would not expect it to be any later than the first week in August.

Far from an ideal solution I know, but through EE I can watch bt sport for £5pm on my phone. There’s also an option to cast it on to your tv for £15pm - both of these came with three months free trial. depending on what network your on, there may be a similar offer which might be worth looking into.

Like I said it’s far from ideal watching it on a small phone screen, but it’s a cheap and contract free version that could tide you over until it becomes available on nowtv - plus if you’re able to get the free trial and/or streaming then happy days and you don’t have to miss the football!

Indeed. From the article

NOW TV customers will also soon be able to enjoy BT Sport on their NOW TV Smart Stick or NOW TV Smart Box with Voice Search, when the BT Sport app launches in the app store later this spring.

Spring ends on Saturday 20th June so they won't be in any rush. BT has got the jump on SKY again

Until Sky can allow Now TV to have red button games, catch up sports and all the sport channels in 50fps then yes I would certainly agree that BT have the upper hand with Sky/Now TV here.

What now tv boxes will the BT’s sports app be compatible on when it finally arrive this spring.

Hi @UKTVPlayapp

The link from the third party website that was posted on this thread on here says Smart Stick or Smart Box with voice search which suggests to me the 4K Smart box.

Where if you believe the NowTV Tweet posted by the NowTV Twitter Help Team they are quoting the NowTV stick plus all NowTV boxes apart from the first generation white box.

Suppose we will have to wait and see, but i doubt very much the white box will be compatible with the BT Sports App where it doesn't offer the full range of Apps from the NowTV Apps Store due to the lack of processing grunt being a first generation box.

Surely it's going to be on NOW TV Smart Box with 4K & Voice Search as well.   The two boxes listed are obsolete.

Hi @Anonymous User

If it's similar to the Sky Sports Box Office or Netflix App then i would expect all NowTV branded devices will support the future BT Sports App (except the white NowTV box).

Though i have no insider knowledge about this, just pure speculation / guess work on my part.

Where is your source for BT passes on Now TV?

Currently it is only Ireland that has the BT sport pass on Now TV. Nothing yet for the UK market.

Direct from BT regarding BT sport month pass.

https://www.bt.com/sport/monthly-pass

The BT Sport Monthly Pass allows you to watch through the BT Sport app on iOS, Android, Chromecast, Samsung Smart TV, Xbox One, Apple TV and Sony PlayStation 4. You can also watch online at sport.bt.com

Please note: you can't watch the BT Sport Monthly Pass on an Amazon Fire TV stick or a set-top box from any TV provider. This includes BT, Sky and Virgin

It has already been confirmed the BT Sport app is coming to NowTV devices. All anyone knows for certain is that the cross supply agreement will be up and running in time for the 2019/20 EPL season.

There are links available if you search for them. I'm having too lazy a night to go looking now.

BT don't do Sports passes like NowTV do. It will be a contract, most likely 18 months for BT Sport, unless Sky can improve on the current deal.

Has there been an update on this yet?

Not in so far as I am aware. I've tried messaging 'BT Sport' through social media but they didn't even bother replying... which is annoying, to say the least, given we've now been waiting since the end of 2017 - when the whole "cross supply of channels" agreement was announced - and they originally said they expected it to be available from "early 2019" which (as we're now in the middle of April) is pretty much over at this point.

As mentioned previously, I would now expect a more realistic timeframe to be around the start of the 2019/20 football season... but there's no guarantee of this.

Do you need a separate subscription  to access the bt sports channels or will it come under the same subscription as Sky Sports. If is separate how much will it cost.
