Price hike at a time when your new content is stagnant?

Now the GOT  has finished NOW TV is stagnant.  A handful of mediocre shows like

Euphoria and Manifest don't really cut it and each month the Box sets are exactly the same as last months so explain to me how this is good time to put your prices up?.  Time to check out Amazon Prime.

while Prime is alternative choice to NowTv the biggest issue with Prime is way to many items are pay to view.

Take a holiday from NowTV for a few months then, by cancelling your Pass.

It’s designed to let you do that.

While you cancelling for a bit will be a drop in the ocean, if enough people feel like you, then the multiple drops will be a weight of water NowTV can’t ignore, and they may reconsider their pricing and programmes selection.

OK, back to the marvellous Succession Season 2, with a side order of the latest season of The Affair...

Set a Payment PIN on your account so that no-one but you can buy memberships on it. Check your bank accounts monthly for any other unexpected payments to Now. That way you can at least nip them in the bud, while you and Now figure out whose fault they are.
If you take an offer that comes with a ‘free trial’ of Boost or another Membership, Cancel them straight away. You will still get the full duration of the trial, and if you decide you do want to continue with one or another of the trial products, just revisit the Cancel, and UnCancel it.

Oh dear, forget The Affair.

I was all poised to come on here and ask how NowTV had managed to replace the middle of Season 5 Episode 1 with a chunk of a bad sci-fi movie, when I found from a review that it was deliberate, and actually part of the programme..... 👽

Hey Roy

You said, "Take a holiday from NowTV for a few months....It’s designed to let you do that".

I agree that Now TV does, theoretically, have this hiatus facility but remember that they've now enacted a so-called helpful (but unwanted) policy of auto-starting passes for you, whether you wanted them to or not.

So my question is this, how long can you go on hiatus from Now TV before they decide to help you out?

Hi @ukbobboy

So you are suggesting that NowTV spontaneously, and without user contact or action, restart Passes that users have cancelled?

And that this is policy?

As they say on Wikipedia, citation needed; both for where by accepting NowTV’s T&Cs I would authorising this, and for where on this Community there are proven examples of this happening.

There have been instances in the not too distant past of people complaining that passes were restarted without user knowledge. Personally I can't remember where I read these reports but I certainly remember reading of them renewing lapsed passes. I think the passes were free for the first month but the customers weren't informed they had actually been restarted by NowTV. Maybe @ukbobboy  will have links to share to corroborate this.

Now TV did reactivate my dormant account, but to be fair the email that they sent stated that NO further payments would be taken unless I explicitly decided to continue.  Prior to that many were opted in and because they had not noticed email, pass had recommenced so were not aware they were paying again.

Fearful of writing this, but a good reason to have a pre-paid card on your account with a low balance.

Thanks for that - but as you say, slightly different.

It does prove, for those who might rest uneasy, that NowTV can turn Passes on remotely, but it doesn’t prove that they do it, or can do it, as a matter of policy, as was being claimed.

In fact, it was giving people what they had already requested, or were entitled to, but hadn’t actually had. And the main, and very legitimate, worry here, that this could pitch those people unbidden into a new payment cycle, was dealt with by not having those belated Passes auto-renew.

So all a bit startling, and not handled well - I’d have been inclined to say “Here’s a Pass we missed giving you  - turn it on if you want to” and not auto-activated them; but maybe that ‘Voucher Waiting’ wasn’t around back then?

And hopefully, there have been no recurrences since December 2017?

On the contrary, all grist to the mill...

You’re going to hate it if I say that we don’t know if that free six-month Pass was set to auto-renew though, or just expire like a Week’s Sports Pass, aren’t you?

I’d switch to my CaxtonFX card, but I don’t think NowTV take euros..... unless you know different?

If you disagree with my posting, say so below, and I will see if I need to mend my ways

Fat chance. Caxton FX have a sterling card, but as usual you post more mis-information.

Yes, and they have a USD card as well, but I haven’t got either that or the GBP one 🤣

Free or not it's rather dodgy in my eyes. What's wrong with an email OFFERING you a free month and letting you decide whether to accept or not. I wouldn't be happy if it was pushed on me.

Dear Now TV - please ignore this and continue pushing the free passes to me. They are most welcome. I am very happy.

I suspect the reason I got the free pass is I haven't used Now TV for ages,  and after applying the sports week pass earlier this week they want to encourage me to get Cinema. Great. Don't suppose I can have a free entertainment pass as well. 🙂 Feel free to add it to my account when new season of Walking Dead starts.

That ‘Renews on 19 October 2019’ - would that by any chance be the chargeable fishhook in the Movies Pass bait that NowTV have just given you for ‘free’?
