CWs DC Shows: Crises on Infinite Earths

@CanaryCry94 @Thom77 @caseyb1993 @mark_suff @commanda6 @gavs82008 @RoyB  @Anonymous User

Hi Super hero fans

First the good news, all the regular CW shows on Sky have been picked and are planned to be shown in the latter part of October, except Legends which will be shown in the new year.

Now the bad, Sky have said that they have no plans to show Batwoman, and as most of you guys know, this show will be the second part of the 5-part Crises on Infinite Earths:-

Supergirl  S05E09 (Part 1)

Batwoman S01E09 (Part 2)

The Flash S06E09 (Part 3)

Arrow S08E08 (Part 4)

Legends of Tomorrow S05E?? (Part 5)

So guys, if there is no "Part 2" how can we have a 5-part Crises?

BTW, here's the URL I got most of the info from:

I've been keeping my eye on the Geektown website religiously in recent times to see what might (or might not) be happening with Batwoman and a pick-up for UK television and it really does now seem like we could be missing out........ with the consequence indeed of a rather messed up Crossover.

Now, unless Sky and the folk selling Batwoman are in the middle of a Brexit-esq stand-off (and we all know how well those go) and it will all come good very very soon, we may just all have to imagine what goes on in Part 2 of the Crossover (or at least read the text description of the episode on Wikipedia)....... and how many of the returning stars / special guests might only pop-up in that episode never to be seen on these shores (until we get the DVD)??????

If Sky One don't pick-up Batwoman, it doesn't really seem like anyone else is going to step in....... and I'm guessing we may have reached the breaking point that was always likely to come??  How many Arrowverse spin-offs can the CW churn out before Sky One start to say "no more"?????  We can be disappointed if Sky One don't take it, but I'm guessing they may have reached their limit??

It will be interesting to see what does happen going forward.

Hey CJ

Not to worry, we all make mistakes, when I first joined this forum I automatically assumes that a very knowledgeable member, @4268 , was male. I was promptly corrected by the lady herself.

So, it's no biggie, remember the old saying, "to err is human....etc."

Until  next time, when we can debate the shows we like to binge watch and possibly our future wish lists.

Just a quickie insight

I now believe that we, in the UK, are unlikely to see episode 2 of "Crisis on Infinite Earths", which is Season 01  Episode 09 of Batwoman. Since this series started in the US, I've not read or seen a single positive review video or read a good article. And, unfortunately, I'm not just talking about misogynistic authors, the female reviewers hate it as well.

So if the US reviews continue in the same negative vein, along with this show's falling Rotten Tomatoes audience score, then I doubt any UK network is going to broadcast CW's Batwoman.

Well Party People

I picked up a little snippet yesterday that CW will have a new, long awaited, super hero in Crisis...., i.e. The Green Lantern.  The same snippet contained another nugget of info, a new Superman series is going to spin off from Crisis, which could also mean that one or two of the current season of CW shows may bite the dust.

As usual, I would take the above with a pinch of salt.

Later.

@ukbobboy CW is definitely losing at least 1 show Supernatural is 2 episodes into it's last season and I'm sure I read another was being dropped (arrow maybe?).

HI CJ

Yes you are right, Arrow is into it's last season (of 10 episodes) and it is expected that the lead character will die sacrificing himself to save the multiverse.

As for Supernatural, I see that it's now up to 15 years, Wow.

But when I mentioned in my previous post "one or two of the current season of CW shows may bite the dust.", I was thinking of either Batwoman, Supergirl or Legends.

Let me explain, Batwoman, although a newcomer to the CW's roster, has been tanking with both US audiences and amateur critics alike and, from the clips I've seen, Ruby Rose the Batwoman character, is not a good actor. She can do action scenes, from the films I've seen her in, but carrying a show as the main character?

If Superman becomes a new CW show, spun off from Crisis..., then I think they are unlikely to keep Supergirl going as well.

From my own POV, Legends has been under resourced in terms of SFX, good script writing, etc. and, what's worse, they've tried to cover this mess up by turning it into a second (actually, third) rate comedy. Better to kill it off rather than to watch it's slow and inevitable decline.

However (here's my not quite 180), one of the top guys at CW has issued a notice of support for Supergirl, "pinch of salt time", and Legends is loosing two of it's actors, Brandon Routh and Courtney Ford (real life husband and wife team), in an effort I believe to streamline the show. But I don't think that will work, not unless they put more (of the good) resources into this show.

Hello Party People

Just a bit more news about CW and their upcoming plans:

CW are premièring a new show sometime in the new year, Superman and Lois, which is in development at the moment.

Crisis on Infinite Earths will be missing its' part 2 in the UK, which is Batwoman S01E09 because Sky has announced that they are unable to purchase the rights for it.

At this stage, whether this episode of Batwoman will ever be shown in the UK is unknown.

I understand that there will be a new spin off series emanating from the last season of Arrow, i.e. Green Arrow & The Canaries, which will feature Arrow's daughter (aka Mia Smoak) as the new Green Arrow, with Dinah Drake and Laurel Lance as The Canaries, both meta humans with enhanced voice powers.

Finally (and taken with a pinch of salt), CW are working on another new, but unnamed, super hero show for sometime in the new year. It is thought this unnamed  show is likely to replace another show that will be coming to an end (it's vague, I know, but that's it for now).

@ukbobboy So sorry it has been a while since I last joined the conversation about superheroes!

I've pretty much dropped them all except The Flash, they just keep getting dragged out now in my opinion and some hard to keep up with. 😢

I don't suppose anyone has caught Pennyworth on that Starzplay app yet?

Hi Casey

We've not communicated for some time, but as you know life has a habit of getting in the way.

As for the super hero shows, I'm looking forward to Crisis On Infinite Earths, as you can guess, but it seems that we in the UK will not get part 2 of this five part saga.

New shows are coming, such as Superman and Lois and possibly Green Lantern, while other will go, i.e. Arrow (end naturally), Supergirl (falling US audience), Batwoman (CW may be trying to rescue it from its' disastrous US start) and Legends (again, CW may try to revitalise it).

As you can see, I'm still into the CW super heroes simply because they allow me to forget, for a little while at least, about life's problems.

@ukbobboy

It sure does, 2019 has not been the kindest year to me.

I had a feeling Supergirl was falling, it is just too political now for me.

The Flash though gets better each season!

I have heard terrible/laughable things about Batwoman so may not even bother when the UK gets it. I do try to atleast check out the pilots so may still do that in this case. 😇

Hi Casey

Sorry to hear that you've had a tough time this year but I do hope that, as Christmas and new year approaches, your situation will get better.

Hollywood,  it seems, are trying to push a particular, but very unsubtle, political agenda, starting from with the failed Ghostbusters (2016), through the Kathleen Kennedy produced Star Wars movies, up to the present day Terminator: Dark Fate directed by Tim Miller.

In fact since Terminator: Dark Fate, people are no longer wondering why Tim Miller was sacked from Deadpool 2.

As for CW's Batwoman, I understand that they will try and increase it from 10 to a 22 episode season.  Now, I'm not gonna throw criticisms at this show, simply because I've not seen it yet, but (TBH) I cannot find any DC/CW YouTube reviewer that likes it, and that is saying something.

Catch you later.
