Parental pin

Hi

I have set my parental pin which is working to watch anything in the library but it is not being asked to watch any live TV, my child is able to watch any certificate programme if it is live.

Have I missed something? How can I stop my child watching 18 content programmes live?

Have a nosy at this link, should give you some information.

You’ll need a PIN to watch some live Entertainment and Sky Cinema channels...

A PIN is mandatory to watch most live Sky Cinema channels and 3 Entertainment channels (Sky Atlantic, Sky Comedy and Sky Documentaries) between 5.30am and 9pm if you're watching on any of our supported devices (except 2nd & 3rd gen Apple TV, where a PIN will be mandatory at all times for all live Entertainment and Sky Cinema channels).

Where a PIN is mandatory, it’ll be required:

  • even if you’ve turned your Parental PIN off
  • whatever the age rating of the movie or programme that’s showing
  • when you switch between channels.

...but it's optional for anything else

You can choose to set a Parental PIN to restrict shows by age rating and stop younger viewers from watching anything they shouldn't. This age restriction will apply to:

  • all live channels other than the Sky Cinema and Entertainment channels where a PIN is mandatory
  • all on-demand movies and shows.

Thanks gavs82008

My problem is that I am not being asked for a pin on the live streaming.

I would like to be.

Last night my teenager could have watched pulp fiction (18) if he watched it live but was asked for a pin if he watched it from the library.

Personally I don't have a PIN as it is just myself and the wife that uses it, but taken this from the link I provided. Looks like you can change the age rating for the PIN that should apply to all content.

How to set up your Parental PIN

Your PIN can only be controlled by you, so our advisors won't be able to set or reset it for you – you'll need to do this yourself online.

It’s easy to set up your PIN for the first time:

  1. Go to the Settings & PINs area of My Account (you might need to sign in)
  2. Select Set up Parental PIN
  3. Enter your PIN, confirm your password and Save PIN
  4. All certificates will be selected as your default age rating. To choose a different rating, just select Change settings

In theory this should be done for yourself by "change settings" within the Parental PIN section.

Thank you,

I have changed the age rating to 15 already.

This works fine for all library viewing but not live streaming.

It seems I am only asked for a pin up to 9pm on some live channels.

This seems crazy that a child could watch what they want as long as its live.

I think im going to just have to remove now tv from his room which is a shame.

What device are you using in his room?

The reason I ask is that Apple TV is the exception to the rule.

except 2nd & 3rd gen Apple TV, where a PIN will be mandatory at all times for all live Entertainment and Sky Cinema channels

Whilst I understand it might be a bit pricey if you wanted to allow your son to have NOW you could purchase an Apple TV.

However I am sure if you drop NOW an email to customer support they might be able to implement something in the future for the app as it is ever changing espeically within the last year or so.

Ideally the app would have profiles like Netflix, Disney+ and Amazon!
