My xbox says it's connected to internet but then says I'll need internet to sign in.

I don't own any games consoles, but have you tried some of the basic stuff, like a fresh NOW App download, temporary unplugging the power to both the games console and your Router.

If using a VPN on either the games console or Router then maybe try disabling it.
