Welcome to the forum. Try force quitting the app, and then try again. Might be worth also checking for any updates to the app and also switching to mobile data to play a couple of seconds to check this works (no more otherwise you will start using a lot of your data allowance) then switching back to wifi.
Also if you are away from home make sure you are still in the UK as the service won't work outside the UK, although you should get a different error message if that was the case.
If that doesn't help post back with which device you are using and whether it's a public or private wifi network you are connecting to.
