Device Management with Chromecast

Hi,

I was wondering why the chromecast option takes up a device management slot, as we need a registered device to cast from...? This means to watch nowtv via chromecast, I need to use 2 of the 4 available slots.
Are there any plans to increase the device number limit or remove the registered device requirement for the chromecast?

It's not just the copying but the cloning of device ids to get around the limit of 4.

For a legal subscription streaming service Sky have the largest number of latest films. As an illegal torrentor you're getting "still at cinema" and "just out on DVD" which Sky can't compete with.

Afraid I join a long list of disgruntled Chromecast users - brand new Chromecast for Christmas and activated today but now unable to cast to it because I obviously "played" the potential cast 1st on my phone (which inadvertently became the 4th device on my account on 3/1/15 when I was only trying to control my Chromecast! - no  instructions anywhere but here after the event to say to "cast to chromecast and NOT play on controlling device" )  rendering me unable to register my Chromecast as my now 5th device !!!

 

Add to my frustration I now can delete my android Nexus 4 but cannot add another new device until the beginning of next month meaning the Chromecast is useless for casting NowTV for the remainer of the month 

 

 

These user limits are very restrictive , paired with poor installation instructions mean dissatisfied end users

 

 

Can I respectfully suggest NowTV take on board these constructive criticisms and improve instructions in the installation process?

 

And if you can help me out too that would be greatly appreciated !

My frustrations increase

 

Seems I cannot delete my Nexus 4 even when given the option to delete - whilst at the same time

 being advised I can add another 10 ( yes TEN devices !!!!! )

 

Er  what is going on ???

We're sorry to see this, we do listen to the feedback from our customers and we are aware of these issues, it some times takes time to provide and implement fixes for a number of factors that we can't always go into but we aware of this as an issue.

Have Sky/NowTV considered offering an increase in licences for an additional fee per month? I know that they do this with SkyGo. 

 

I would be willing to have a couple of extra device slots for a cost per month.

I am having the exact same problems as you docsnj. I wouldn't mind so much if this was all clearly explained but it wasn't and having to wait a month per change is frustrating to the extreme. Not a happy customer. Graham

I too use a chromecast for now tv, and identified this problem when my wife's android phone could not be used to connect and cast.  I understand the commercial aspect for sky on this but consider that, when people like me meet this kind of problem we use our heads...the next service that comes along that offers a similar service we leave NOW tv - there is no reason for loyalty.  I would like NOW to remove the chromecast from device slots and stop being so petty.  The customer journey is getting soiled and a solution exists - just get it sorted!

@Anonymous User but your wife can cast from her phone if the Chromecast is one of your devices. She might not be able to watch directly on the phone if you are at 4 already, but pressing cast first, then play will work.

It's a device because it runs a stream independent of any other. You could start a movie and walk out the house and it would remain playing, and then watch live sport on your mobile. And you have lots of devices to cast with (every tablet and mobile can cast and you could have 200 of them), you just have an issue that you don't have a device to cast to.
