1.  Revenge is a dish best served cold

Podolski.jpg

Nobody wants to face the same nightmare twice, but Arsenal and Manchester City had to do just that. They were faced with the task of a second meeting with teams who just a few days ago temporarily stopped their title charge. Revenge was served as both sides gained a bit of revenge and made it through to the 6th round of the FA Cup. Arsenal sneaked past Liverpool despite revelations on social media from a senior member of the team, while Manchester City gave a jaguar style performance against Chelsea. Everybody likes a second bite at the cherry.

2. A galaxy has more than one star

Kyrie.jpg

The best thing about Valentine’s Day is that it marks the NBA All-Star weekend. It’s kind of like the NBA’s version of the Super Bowl. The best players in the NBA (as voted for by the public) get together on one court, resulting in nothing but magical moments all round. This year’s game was billed as King James vs. Kevin Durant, but certain other superstars had ideas of their own. Blake Griffin of the Los Angeles Clippers broke the record of points by one player in an All-Star game. New York Knicks superstar Carmelo Anthony broke the most three pointers scored record, but it’s the young gun called Kyrie Irving of Cleveland Cavillers who took centre stage. Scoring 31 points and 14 assists which contributed to the East winning 163-155. Kyrie’s star has without a doubt risen to another level.

3. Is there a University degree for failure?

Mourinho v Wenger.jpg

It’s not WWE, but owner Vince McMahon might want to take some notes from Mourinho and Wenger. Asked why, apart from himself and Manchester City boss Pellegrini every other manager is ruling out title success, Wenger replied “fear to fail.” Oh dear. This message got back to the Chelsea camp and Chelsea manager Mourinho’s retort was “low key” as always. “He is a specialist in failure, I’m not.” Banter? Anyway, during his post-match interview on Sunday against Wenger stated "I am embarrassed for him, honestly.” They should’ve just sent each other a Valentine’s Day card…

4. Too fast, too Fury

Fury.jpg

After 10 months of being out of the ring, the weekend saw Tyson Fury return to the ring. He faced American Joey Abell who was floored four times, resulting in the bout coming to an end in the fourth round. Now 22-0, a rematch between Fury and fellow Brit Derek Chisora could be on the cards, but he really wants some of Wladimir Klitschko. "Tyson too fast Fury, that's the name, fighting's the game and these are bums compared to me. I want Wladimir Klitschko, he's avoiding me, let's get it on Wlad." Big words when you take into account the less than convincing display on the weekend.

5. Are you not entertained?

Messi.jpg

Hello, my name is Lionel Messi. I enjoy football, football, football and football. Last weekend, I decided to further cement my status as one of the best footballers of this (or any) generation. Standing in my way? The nicely named Rayo Vallecano, but I managed to score two goals in a six goal win for my team mates. This now makes me the third highest goalscorer in La Liga history. I’m truly happy and this wouldn’t be possible without my team mates. I hope to continue helping my team mates, score more goals and climb up further the list. I look forward to scoring in Manchester this week. Much love, Lionel. 🙂
