Moving from BT to Now Broadband

I have started the process of moving from BT to Now Broadband, all of that looks in order.

Codes to activate my new Sports & Cinema TV options have been sent and I've been told they can be activated even before my Now Broadband goes live on the 15th.

I tried entering the codes but a banner states NowTV are having issues with voucher codes at the moment. I was wondering if this is because my NowTV account is still linked to BT? 

My main question is what will happen to my NowTV account once I leave BT? Will I get back control of my account? I have looked at my BT account and there doesn't seem to be any option to separate the two. Will this automatically happen when my BT account closes?

I do not have any NowTV products active with BT unless BT Sport is part of it.

According to the help page, you should be able to cancel via My BT. If you cannot find a way to do this, then you will need to contact BT directly and ask them to cancel. You must do this before you can use your NOW account.

Just to clarify, you used to have Now via BT TV, and you are still with BT TV, but you have nothing active on Now?

I didn’t think that was possible, and you must have at least Now Entertainment or Now Sports active.

But either way, yes you have to get BT to let go of your Now account before you can have memberships direct with Now.

Set a Payment PIN on your account so that no-one but you can buy memberships on it. Check your bank accounts monthly for any other unexpected payments to Now. That way you can at least nip them in the bud, while you and Now figure out whose fault they are.

My NowTV account must have been started when I joined BT a couple of years ago. After a long wait I got through to BT who confirmed they have control of my NowTV account as any billing is dealt with by them. They confirmed I have no active membership options with NowTV but they still control it.

They did say once my BT account closes on the 15th their interest and control of my NowTV account will be relinquish. They said they could or would not release it until then. Hopefully this will happen and I will be able to control the account for myself and apply my voucher codes then.

I have seen a few topics about not linking your NowTV account with BT but most won't see that advice until it is too late!
